With action in the transfer portal slowing down, it is time to take a closer look at how each P4 school did during this cycle. Up now are the Indiana Hoosiers

The skinny: Since being hired as head coach on November 30th, Curt Cignetti has overhauled almost half the roster in Bloomington. Helping this overhaul was the addition of numerous players from his previous successful stop, James Madison. With new starters at almost every position, there will be as many questions as answers for the Hoosiers as we head into the season. How quickly these questions are answered will go a long way in determining Indiana’s level of success during Cignetti’s inaugural season.

Indiana's Kurtis Rourke (9) passes during the Indiana football spring game at Memorial Stadium on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

Key losses: OL Zach Carpenter (Miami-Florida), OL Kahlil Benson (Colorado), OL Matthew Bedford (Oregon), DB Louis Moore (Ole Miss), RB Jaylin Lucas (Florida State), DL Philip Blidi (Auburn), WR Cam Camper (Boise State)

Key additions: QB Kurtis Rourke (Ohio), WR Elijah Sarratt (James Madison), WR Myles Price (Texas Tech), OL Trey Wedig (Wisconsin), DL CJ West (Kent State), DE Mikail Kamara (James Madison), LB Aiden Fisher (James Madison), DB Terry Jones Jr. (Old Dominion), DB D’Angelo Ponds (James Madison)

Final thoughts: Lets start at quarterback, where Kurtis Rourke, who is the assumed starter despite it not being official yet, carried himself like the veteran he is since his arrival during the winter. The former MAC Offensive Player of the Year has the potential to be one of the more successful transfer quarterbacks in the Big Ten this season. Helping his adjustment to the Big 10 will be the additions of wide receivers Myles Price and Elijah Sarratt to an already talented positional group. Defensively, several of head coach Cignetti’s additions from James Madison should prove to be vital, most notably DE Mikail Kamara, LB Aiden Fisher and DB D’Angelo Ponds, who was one of the top true freshman cornerbacks in the country in 2023. The Hoosiers aren’t likely to make any serious noise in the Big Ten this season, however, they have the potential to be an exciting watch.
