With action in the transfer portal slowing down, it is time to take a closer look at how each P4 school did during this cycle. Up now are the Kansas State Wildcats
The skinny: With Kansas State in position to contend for a Big 12 title this season, the Wildcats used the portal to try and plug a few holes while strengthening other positions with depth and experience. Head coach Chris Klieman has done well in recent years using this method and if he succeeds again this year it may be enough to get the Wildcats into the new expanded playoffs.

Key losses: QB Will Howard (Ohio State), RB Treshaun Ward (Boston College), DB Will Lee (Texas A&M), DB Kobe Savage (Oregon), DL Jevon Banks (UConn)
Key additions: RB Dylan Edwards (Colorado), OL Easton Kilty (North Dakota), DB Jordan Riley (Ball State), DB Jordan Dunbar (Rice), LB Alec Marenco (New Mexico)
Final thoughts: Losing a quarterback of Will Howard’s talents would cripple a lot of programs, but the Wildcats were lucky enough to have Avery Johnson ready. Johnson’s impressive performance in 2023 made Howard’s departure understandable and almost expected. The Wildcats then strengthened their offense by adding dynamic RB Dylan Edwards and OL Easton Kilty, whose versatility on the line will be invaluable. On defense, the secondary added playmakers with Jordan Riley and Jordan Dunbar, while LB Alec Marenco will be tasked with filling a weakness at middle linebacker.
