The skinny: An argument can be made that Kentucky had one of the more successful portal off-seasons of any team in the country. The Wildcats, led by head coach Mark Stoops, filled their needs, while both adding veterans and impressive young talent with potential. On top of that, they did not experience any portal losses that should hinder their potential success in 2024.

Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff (12) dropped back for a pass during the Kentucky Wildcats' Blue White scrimmage at Kroger Field on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Kentucky. April 13, 2024

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

Key losses: DB Jeremiah Anglin (Pittsburgh), LB Keaten Wade Jr. (Colorado)

Key additions: QB Brock Vandagriff (Georgia), LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson (Georgia), RB Chip Trayanum (Ohio State), WR Fred Farrier (UAB), WR Ja’Mori Maclin (North Texas), OL Gerald Mincey (Tennessee), DB Kristian Story (Alabama), DB DJ Waller Jr. (Michigan)

Final thoughts: While several transfer additions have the potential to become key contributors in 2024, it may not matter if Brock Vandagriff does not play up to his potential. One of the more intriguing transfers of this cycle, Vandagriff arrived in Lexington after attempting only 18 passes during his time at Georgia. However, that lack of experience did not slow him down this spring as he has impressed since his arrival at Kentucky. The Wildcats then strengthened their offensive line by adding Gerald Mincey, their already dynamic wide receiving corps with Ja’Mori Maclin and Fred Farrier II and found their lead running back with Chip Trayanum. On defense, Jamon Dumas-Johnson has the potential to lead the team in tackles this season, while DJ Waller Jr. was a late addition who may need a bit of time to flourish but has next-level abilities.
