With action in the transfer portal slowing down, it is time to take a closer look at how each P4 school did during this cycle. Up now are the Nebraska Cornhuskers
The skinny: As head coach Matt Rhule attempts to further establish his culture in Lincoln heading into his second season in charge, the Cornhuskers experienced a rather quiet portal season with only nine scholarship players entering the portal. While that also resulted in a rather small amount of incoming transfers, there are a handful who will be relied upon this season to be important contributors.

Total # entries into portal: 17
Total # of scholarship players who entered portal: 9
Number of scholarship players who withdrew: 0

Key losses: DL Ru’Quan Buckley (Michigan State)
Key additions: WR Jahmal Banks (Wake Forest), RB Dante Dowdell (Oregon), WR Isaiah Neyor (Texas), DB Blye Hill (St. Francis – PA), LB Stefon Thompson (Syracuse), DB Ceyair Wright (USC)
Final thoughts: One priority for the Cornhuskers in the portal was strengthening their wide receiving group. They accomplished that with the additions of Jahmal Banks and Isaiah Neyor. Neyor is one of the more intriguing transfers of this cycle after an injury caused him to miss most of his one season with Texas. If he can stay on the field, will the Cornhuskers be getting the 2022 version of Neyor who had 12 touchdown receptions with Wyoming? If so, he will quickly become a fan favorite in Lincoln. The running game also had some question marks, which Dante Dowdell may be able to answer. It is likely that Gabe Ervin will be the week one starter, but with his injury history, Dowdell’s chance to shine may come sooner than later. On defense, Blye Hill has impressed since his arrival during the winter and should start at corner, while Ceyair Wright was an impressive late addition who should further strengthen the secondary. Also, Stefon Thompson adds an experienced and productive linebacker to the group. This season won’t be won or lost by transfers, but they have the potential to help get Nebraska back into a bowl game in 2024.
