The skinny: Its an exciting time in Austin, Texas. Coming off a run to the National Semifinals and preparing for their first season in the SEC, there is plenty of optimism swirling around the Longhorns. And to better prepare themselves for life in the SEC, head coach Steve Sarkisian brought in an impressive haul of transfers who have the potential to make this another memorable season at Texas.

Key losses: DB Terrance Brooks (Illinois), WR Isaiah Neyor (Nebraska), DB Austin Johnson (TCU)

Key additions: WR Isaiah Bond (Alabama), DE Trey Moore (UTSA), DB Andrew Mukuba (Clemson), TE Amari Niblack (Alabama), WR Matthew Golden (Houston), DL Jermayne Lole (Louisville), DL Bill Norton (Arizona), DB Jay’Vion Cole Jr. (San Jose State)

Final thoughts: While the Longhorns did lose a few interesting pieces to the portal, overall, the positives far outweigh the negatives. On offense, three potential game changers were added. Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden and Amari Niblack all should become major contributors immediately. Also, look for Golden to become a big part of the return game. Similar to the offense, the defense added several bigtime players. Trey Moore dominated at UTSA and has the potential to do the same in the SEC. Andrew Mukuba and Jay’Vion Cole Jr. will improve a secondary that was one of the weaknesses of the team last season, while Bill Norton and Jermayne Lole will help solidify the interior line. With the help of the portal, the Longhorns successfully reloaded in hopes of making an immediate splash in the SEC.
