The Transfer portal is closed after a whirlwind first window, and
won’t be open again until after spring ball. Numerous players with
big names made the switch, especially at quarterback. Here I name
my top five quarterback transfers so far for next season.
1. Carson Beck, Miami
Previous School: Georgia
Carson Beck has had his ups and downs, but mainly success.
In his first season starting for the Bulldogs back in 2023, he put up
great numbers with an outstanding cast around him. He threw for
almost 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing over 72%
of his passes. Although he still put up numbers, this season wasn’t quite the same with a lot of talent
gone along with being beat up, but he is now headed back to his
home state and a Miami program that had a ton of success with Cam Ward a year ago. I expect him to excel once again after he heals up, and
get back to the basics.
Former #Georgia QB Carson Beck threw for 7,912 yards and 58 TDs during his career in Athens.
Never lost to Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, or Georgia Tech as a starter.
I hope Georgia fans remember the good and not the bad. https://t.co/Xsw4fFzlmv

2. John Mateer, Oklahoma
Previous School: Washington State
The Little Elm, Texas native broke out in his first year
starting for the Cougars. He put up more than 3,000 yards and 29
touchdowns through the air, while also being a threat with his legs.
Washington State wasn’t too happy when he decided to leave for
better pastures, but Oklahoma on the other hand was ecstatic. He
should be the front runner by a wide margin to lead the Sooners in
2025.

3. Fernando Mendoza, Indiana
Previous School: Cal
Standing at 6’5” 225 lbs, Fernando Mendoza has all the
tools you would want in a big-time quarterback. Not only does he
have the prototypical size, but he also has the mental capacity to go along with the
strong arm paired with touch. Indiana had its best season in school
history reaching the the CFP with Kurtis Rourke under center, but I feel
Mendoza can be even better. It should be a seamless transition.

4. Kaidon Salter, Colorado
Previous School: Liberty
Previously signing with Tennessee out of high school, Kaidon Salter would ultimately take his talents to Liberty, and
showcase his talents there instead. One thing for sure that everybody
already knew before he had to transfer, was that he is simply a pure baller.
While not being the biggest guy on the field, all he does is make
plays whether it’s with his arm or legs. Salter has great accuracy to go
along with more than enough arm strength to put it wherever he
needs it to be. He also extends plays with the best of them. Now at
Colorado with even more weapons, I expect him to shine like he
always has.
Colorado gets a commitment from Kaidon Salter, one of the top QB’s in the country.
Salter has 56 career TD passes, 17 interceptions and 2006 rushing yards.

5. Maalik Murphy, Oregon State
Previous School: Duke
This one was kind of a head-scratcher to me when the
news dropped. After not playing much at all during his two years at Texas, he decided to enter the transfer portal. That would
ultimately lead him to Duke where he would have the chance to
finally start, and show what he can bring to the table. The former
blue-chip recruit didn’t disappoint either. In his first season at the
helm, he amassed almost 3,000 yards through the air along with a school record 26
touchdown passes and leading the Blue Devils to a 9-3 season. Now headed
into his Junior season, I expect him to improve even more.
