With Biff Poggi getting fired on Tuesday, Charlotte players were immediately eligible to enter the transfer portal. Plenty will get interest, but which will be the busiest?
WR O’Mega Blake (RS Junior, 6-foot-2, 180-pounds)
The skinny: This is an interesting one, as Blake started his collegiate career at South Carolina before transferring to East Carolina for a couple of months during the offseason, re-entering the portal and eventually finding his current home with Charlotte. Blake’s big play ability has been on display this season with 25 receptions for 517 yards and five touchdowns. His 20.7 yards per reception average is #1 in the AAC and #9 nationally, which would definitely get noticed in the portal.
TE Colin Weber (RS Junior, 6-foot-4, 255-pounds)
The skinny: Balanced as both a run blocker, pass blocker and receiver, Weber is having his second straight productive season with 21 receptions for 213 yards. This is after he made a name for himself in 2023 with 34 receptions for 362 yards. Tight end generally isn’t a deep position in the portal, so someone like Weber, who is experienced, productive and has nice size, would gain plenty of interest.
OT Kendall Stanley (RS Soph, 6-foot-5, 290-pounds)
More Sports News
The skinny: After playing in only one game during his redshirt freshman season, a start against Navy, Stanley has become a vital part of the line in 2024 with 586 snaps. Listed as the #135 offensive tackle by PFF (out of 646 players), Stanley is still developing but has shown the potential that other schools are looking for.
LB Reid Williford (Junior, 6-foot-2, 225-pounds)
The skinny: Williford is enjoying a breakout season as a junior with a team-high 59 tackles, six tackles for loss and two sacks. The Tennessee-native, who recently had a season-high 11 tackles against #20 Tulane, began the season as somewhat of a question mark but has established himself as one of the top defensive players on the roster.
