Earlier today the South Carolina Gamecocks coaching staff received the news they’ve been waiting for, Arkansas State talented freshman wide receiver Corey Rucker will be playing for them next season. A great gift for coach Shane Beamer to receive on his birthday. Rucker was a 3-star recruit out of high school and quickly made an impact during his time in Jonesboro. Out of high school he was recruited by Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Jackson State and others.
If you need a game to watch to grasp an idea of how talented he is, look no further than his performance vs UL Monroe in 2020 where he had 310 yards and 4 touchdowns. In the UL Monroe game he set the record for the most receiving yards by a freshman receiver in FBS history. During his career he has 75 receptions, 1279 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a receiver Rucker has a few traits that make him such a hard receiver to cover, he does a tremendous job adjusting to overthrows or underthrows, as well as being a threat to beat you over the top. Gamecock fans can expect an immediate contributor to the offense with potential to make an all SEC team or two during his time in Colombia. On a scale of 1-10 the impact that Rucker will make will be between 8-8.5 rating.
