The transfer portal is full of talented players, and some have already committed to their new teams. Here we profile some of those commitments.

QB Dillon Gabriel

Oregon Ducks (from Oklahoma)

5′-11″, 204 LBS

The Ducks get an experienced and highly productive quarterback in Dillon Gabriel.

2023 at Oklahoma: 3,660 yards, 30 touchdowns, and only six INTs (in 384 pass attempts). 69% completion percentage. 373 yards on the ground and 12 more scores.

Biggest Surprise and Biggest Disappointment in the SEC Will Be…..

Impact on Oregon: Gabriel can extend plays with his legs and does not turn the ball over often. He will fit in well with the way Oregon plays, and there should be no drop off in the passing game. Gabriel averaged almost a first down on every pass play, which is identical to Bo Nix.

WR Chris Tyree

Virginia Cavaliers (from Notre Dame)

5′-11″, 192 LBS

A Virginia native, Tyree was the leading receiver for the Fighting Irish.

2023 at Notre Dame: 26 catches, 484 yards, and three touchdowns.

College career: 82 catches, 945 yards, and seven TDs in 46 career games with Northwestern and Notre Dame.

Impact on Virginia: Tyree brings a ton of game experience to a Virginia receiving corps that may lose 1,000-yard receiver Malik Washington, who is a senior and may have exhausted his eligibility.

WR Raymond Cottrell

Kentucky Wildcats (from Texas A&M)

6′-3″, 210 LBS

Cottrell is one of the top receivers in the transfer portal and a former 4-star prospect who played WR, QB, and RB in high school.

2023 at Texas A&M: One catch for 13 yards.

Impact on Kentucky: At 6’-3” and very athletic, Raymond Cottrell presents a matchup nightmare for smaller defensive backs on 50/50 balls and will be a major addition to Liam Cohen’s offense.

CB Toriano Pride

Missouri Tigers (from Clemson)

5′-11″ 190 LBS

Toriano Pride is a talented cornerback and is ranked as the #2 CB prospect in the transfer portal.

2023 at Clemson: 14 tackles, one tackle for loss, and four pass breakups. Against Wake Forest, Pride recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss, and three pass breakups in a 17-12 win.

Impact on Missouri: Pride will compete for a starting job and add depth to a Missouri pass defense that ranked 62nd in the FBS. He will also reunite with his former East St. Louis High School teammate-WR Luther Burden III.

QB Tyler Shough

Louisville Cardinals (from Texas Tech)

6′-5″, 230 LBS

Tyler Shough has had an injury-plagued career to this point, after three years at Oregon and three years at Texas Tech. He is a super senior going into his 7th year of college football.

Shough’s only full season on the field came in the COVID season of 2020 in which he led the Oregon Ducks to the Fiesta Bowl.

2023 at Texas Tech: Played in just four games, 746 yards passing, seven touchdowns, and four INTs.

Impact on Louisville: Shough has NFL prototypical size as a quarterback and should thrive in Jeff Brohm’s offense, if he can stay healthy. He comes to a Louisville team that is coming off an ACC Championship Game loss to Florida State.

It will be interesting to see how these players develop into their new roles with their new teams in 2024.
