While P4 to P4 transfers get the most attention, during every transfer portal cycle more and more FCS transfers are making an impact at the highest level. This year may prove to be the most productive for FCS transfers as numerous are in position to make a statement in 2024. Here are five to watch in the ACC:
OL Jonathan Mendoza – Louisville (Yale)
The skinny: Since Jeff Brohm’s return to Louisville, the Cardinals have been one of the more active and successful portal teams in the country. With the addition of Mendoza, a 6-foot-9, 310-pound All-Ivy League tackle, they added another piece who has the potential to be a vital part of the offense in 2024.
OL Jacob Rizy – Florida State (Harvard)
The skinny: The Florida State roster has undergone a major overhaul since their highly successful 2023 season. Knowing that a restoration of the offensive line was one of the priorities, adding a versatile player like Rizy should provide immediate relief. With the Crimson he started off at center and then became an All-Ivy League performer at tackle. Expect him on the interior in Tallahassee, but the option of playing on the outside gives the Seminoles an additional benefit.
WR Censere Lee – Pittsburgh (Western Carolina)
The skinny: When Kade Bell left Western Carolina to become offensive coordinator at Pittsburgh, it wasn’t a surprise that a couple of his key offensive weapons followed. The one to watch the closest will be Lee, who over the last two seasons totaled 82 receptions for 1,426 yards and 14 touchdowns. While on the smaller side (5-foot-11, 170-pounds), he is quick, elusive and is obviously well versed in Bell’s offensive schemes.

TE Tyler Neville – Virginia (Harvard)
The skinny: Virginia immediately seemed like the likely destination for Neville, a two time first-team All-Ivy League performer who played his high school football in the state. Finishing his Harvard career with 62 receptions for 698 yards and eight touchdowns in 30 games, he fills a big void at the position after Grant Misch graduated and Joshua Rawlings entered the portal.

OL Rush Reimer – Cal (Montana State)
The skinny: Other Montana State transfers (OL T.J. Session, RB Isaiah Ifanse) have experienced recent success at Cal, so the Golden Bears used that to their favor in adding Reimer, who was an All-Conference and All-American performer at the FCS level. During his time with the Bobcats he gained experience at both guard and tackle, which will also give the Golden Bears more versatility one the line.
