Since Eddie Georgia left Tennessee State for Bowling Green, there has been a steady stream of Tigers entering the transfer portal. The FCS program has shown that it has a good amount of impressive talent on the roster as several of the transfers have picked up numerous FBS offers. A new name to the list is wide receiver Karate Brenson.

Brenson, 6-foot-2 and 215-pounds, started his collegiate career at Ball State before transferring to Tennessee State prior to the 2022 season. In three seasons with the Tigers, he has totaled 130 receptions for 1,669 yards and nine touchdowns, including an especially impressive 2024 season when he finished with 79 receptions for 1,088 yards and six touchdowns.

Tennessee State's Karate Brenson (0) runs with the ball during the Southern Heritage Classic game between Tennessee State University and University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Since officially entering the portal on Friday, he has already received offers from Texas State, Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, and yes, Bowling Green. How many of the Tennessee State transfers end up following Coach George to Bowling Green is yet to be known, but it will be an interesting situation considering many of the players have numerous other offers.

This mass exit from Tennessee State will also make the job for the next head coach, who has yet to be named, extremely difficult. Whoever gets the job will likely be very active once the spring portal window opens trying to replenish the depleted roster.
