March isn’t the usual time for a team to add new players to the roster, but when an opportunity arises you grab it. Northwestern identified a veteran in the transfer portal who would add valuable depth to the defensive line and yesterday earned a commitment.

Miguel Jackson, a Pennsylvania native, started his collegiate career at Charlotte. In three seasons (10 starts) with the 49ers he totaled 58 tackles, nine tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He then transferred to Utah State where he spent the 2024 season. An injury cut his time with the Aggies down to only four games, but he still managed to total 12 tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
At 6-foot-0 and 290-pounds, Jackson will mix into the interior defensive line rotation behind returning starters Carmine Bastone and Najee Story. He entered the portal on January 21st as a graduate transfer. With the spring semester in its midst and practices already started, Jackson will enroll during the summer.
