OSU DB Sevyn Banks Transferring to LSU

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”4045″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Ohio State cornerback Sevyn Banks has announced he will transfer to LSU. Banks is an interesting transfer because at one point he was looking like a day two selection in the NFL Draft, then the wheels came off.

Sevyn Banks stock has fallen since then and he will be looking for redemption at LSU but he has to be better – much better – if he wants to make an impact in the Tigers’ secondary. It is worth noting that Banks did have a knee injury last spring that could’ve hindered his performance during the year and he also missed a few games of the Buckeyes’ season due to this injury, but his play regressed regardless.

During his time in Columbus Banks appeared in 36 games with 15 starts and was Third Team All American at one point. Notably, he had an interception in the Sugar Bowl against Clemson. The talent with Banks isn’t a question, he is an experienced DB who is more comfortable in the slot than playing the boundary but can LSU bring back the Banks that was on the Thorpe Award watch list?

I believe if he is playing nickel in the Tiger’s defense they will see a drastic improvement from what Banks was in 2021. Banks has one year of eligibility remaining and was a highly recruited four-star out of high school. Cornerback is a position of need for the Tigers which is a rare thing to say so

I’m going to give Banks a 4-star impact rating due to his experience and prior performance before the injury. He should look to make an impact this year in Baton Rouge.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
