In today’s Fact or Fiction — transfer portal edition — I look at three big recent topics from the transfer portal and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. The most important offensive portal addition in the Big Ten is WR Evan Stewart.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Stewart has a ton of talent but Oregon is solid at WR and he’s a nice supplement. To me, the answer isn’t even Quinshon Judkins at Ohio State as they have elite talent there as well. QB is always the key position and Aidan Chiles for Michigan State is the answer to their prayers. QB play for the Spartans was disgusting last year and while Chiles has some things to work on he’s such a massive upgrade it’s ridiculous.

2. QB Julian Sayin will play this season.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
I was tempted to shock the world and say yes because I think this kid is special and he’s my No. 1 QB in the 2024 class. But Will Howard and Devin Brown better hold down the fort or Ryan Day is in big trouble. The QB position will be a weakness for OSU again compared to years with guys like Dwayne Haskins, Justin Fields, and CJ Stroud but I don’t see the true freshman playing. Nor do I see the other true freshman, Air Noland, playing either.

3. Cam Ward’s Miami impact is overstated.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Cam Ward is a solid QB and played better last season than I expected. But for those Miami fans who think he’s coming in there and fixing problems to lead a 10-2 season, you could be delusional. And if he gets hurt? Watch out as there is no depth behind him. He is a huge get and help but I think expectations are too high.
