In today’s Fact or Fiction — transfer portal edition — I look at three big recent topics from the transfer portal and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Texas A&M lost the most in the portal from the SEC.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Some teams took a hit, teams like South Carolina, LSU and even Georgia and Alabama but nothing like the Aggies. They added a few nice players but losing high level former prospects like CB Denver Harris, DL Anthony Lucas and Tunmise Adeleye and WR Chris Marshall is devastating. The failure this past season has had a massive affect on the roster and those thinking the Aggies could be a surprise team next season have to assume the younger players coming in will make up for the talent loss.

2. USC once again improved their roster the most in the portal.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
An argument could be made that USC improved their roster the most last season with QB Caleb Williams alone as well as additions like RB Travis Dye and WR Jordan Addison. But not this cycle. To me it’s Florida State. While they didn’t get a QB (or need one) the overall QB crop this year wasn’t like last year where one guy like Williams can change everything. So with players like TE Jaheim Bell, CB Fentrell Cypress and DL Braden Fiske all making a case to be top 25 players in the portal, I’ll give the Noles the nod.

3. The Gators once again got a plug and play OL star.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Last year it was O’Cyrus Torrence who came in and made a big impact and this year it will be Kiyaunta Goodwin from Kentucky. Huh? Torrence was an All American candidate at Louisiana while Goodwin was a big recruit coming out but didn’t play much last season. I love his frame and work ethic and think getting away from his home state of Kentucky will push him to elite status this year. Or at least a starting role.
