LSU lands a 1,000-yard receiver out of the transfer portal, Oregon gets a commitment from and all-conference linebacker, UCF gets a talented safety, and UCLA bolsters its defensive secondary.

Cam Ward

Miami Hurricanes (from Washington State)

6’2”, 205 lbs.

After flirting with the NFL, Cam Ward had a change of heart and pledged his commitment to Miami as a graduate transfer. In 2023, Ward passed for 3,376 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just seven INTs (in 485 pass attempts). He completed 66% of his passes.

Ward posted three games of over 400 yards, four games of over 300 yards, and he did not throw an INT until week 5 (14 TDs over that stretch). Accuracy is not an issue, as Ward completed 70% or better of his passes in six games last season. For his college career, one that includes two seasons at the FCS level, Ward has 13,875 passing yards and 119 touchdowns.

Ward is a serious upgrade at the position for Offensive Coordinator Shannon Dawson. Ward averaged 311 yards passing per game last season, ranked #4 in the FBS. Miami averaged 258 yards passing as a team, ranked #43 nationally.

CJ Daniels

LSU Tigers (from Liberty)

6’2”, 200 lbs.

A 2nd Team All-Conference USA selection, CJ Daniels will help to fill the void at wide receiver left by Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas, Jr., who both have declared for the NFL Draft. In 2023, Daniels caught 55 balls for 1,067 yards and 10 TDs, averaging 19 yards per catch.

Daniels posted five games of over 100 yards receiving, including two games of over 150 yards each. For his career, Daniels has 1,954 yards and 21 touchdowns to his credit. Daniels gives the presumed 2024 LSU starter at quarterback Garrett Nussmeier a dependable target to throw to.

DL Jamaree Caldwell

A 2nd Team All-Big 12 selection, Jamaree Caldwell recorded 27 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick for the Cougars in 2023. Against Cincinnati, Caldwell made five tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in a 24-14 loss. For his career, Caldwell has produced 39 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and two blocked kicks.

6’4 330lb DT from Houston is in the portal and would be a dominant force in Colorado.
