With Will Hall getting fired on Sunday, the 30-day transfer portal window is now open for Southern Miss players. Numerous players will be contacted by other schools with the hope that they make themselves available, but here are the four who will draw the most interest:
WR Tiaquelin Mims, Junior
The skinny: Now in his third season with the Golden Eagles, Mims has been a steady contributor since his true freshman season. Having totaled 86 receptions for 1,074 yards and five touchdowns during his time with Southern Miss, he is also considered one of the top punt returners in the Sun Belt Conference. This season he is the Golden Eagles’ top receiver with 22 receptions for 245 yards.
DB Will James, RS Freshman
The skinny: James only played in one game during his redshirt freshman season at Mississippi State before deciding to hit the transfer portal. Finding a new home at Southern Miss, he enjoyed an impressive summer camp which has resulted in a productive season. Already with 20 tackles, one tackle for loss and a team-leading five passes defended, at 6-foot-0, 185-pounds, he has the skillset to play at the P4 level.

TE Kyirin Heath, Junior
The skinny: Heath spent his first two collegiate seasons with Ole Miss before transferring to Southern Miss last winter. In five games this season he has totaled 11 receptions for 168 yards and two touchdowns. His 15.3 yards per reception average is second highest on the team. At 6-foot-4, 235-pounds, he has shown himself to be a capable blocker while possessing the speed and athleticism to become a weapon in the passing game.
LB Chris Jones, Freshman
The skinny: A true freshman at 6-foot-0, 220-pounds, Jones has quickly become a defensive playmaker for the Golden Eagles with 33 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble in only seven games. He earned a starting job in summer camp and has continued to improve as the season has progressed. Young defensive players who show potential will always gain plenty of portal attention.
