Summer workouts are just around the corner and coaches are filling out their rosters for the upcoming season. Mike Farrell Sports recaps the latest portal commits.

Mississippi State Receiver heading to Atlanta

Former Mississippi State wide receiver Justin Brown committed to Georgia Tech on Tuesday with four years of eligibility. He was a three-star prospect out of Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, TN. He decided to enter the transfer portal at the beginning of May, and now he will join his former high school teammate, former USF TE Jackson Long.

Brown will add speed and explosiveness to the Yellow Jackets’ offense under first-year head coach Brent Key. Last season Georgia Tech finished as the 105th-ranked offense but did finish the season on a positive note going 4-4 in their last eight games, including road wins over Pittsburgh and North Carolina. Georgia Tech will look to build off its season-ending success and compete for an ACC division title and conference championship.

TCU Receiver Staying in Texas

TCU wide receiver Jordan Hudson announced his decision to enter the portal in April. He signed with the Horn Frogs in December of 2021, and now he will transfer to SMU with three years of eligibility.

He was a four-star prospect out of Garland High School in Garland, TX, and is also rated as a four-star coming out of the portal. He joins an explosive offense that is one of the most entertaining offenses to watch. He brings play-making abilities and shows tremendous bursts after the catch. The Mustangs will be a team to watch for as they continue to bring in playmakers from top-tier programs.

Notre Dame Linebacker Returns Home

Notre Dame LB Prince Kollie announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal in April and later announced his commitment to Vanderbilt on Tuesday.

The six-foot-one 228-pound linebacker was a four-star prospect out of David Crockett High School out of Jonesborough, TN. The six-foot-one 228-pound linebacker was a four-star prospect out of David Crockett High School out of Jonesborough, TN. During his recruitment, Clark Lea was his primary recruiter when he was the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach. Prince will return to his home state with two years of eligibility. This is by far the most prominent addition to Vanderbilt’s history. He joins a loaded linebacker room and will be a crucial player for Vanderbilt’s defense.

Jackson State Receiver to the SEC

Wide receiver Shane Hooks announced his transfer from Jackson State to Auburn on Sunday. He entered the portal in December of 2022 and later committed to Ole Miss in April before flipping his commitment to the Tigers.

The six-foot-five 190-pound receiver was a three-star prospect out of Olympia High School in Orlando, FL who began his career at the University of Ohio in August of 2018 before later joining Coach Prime at Jackson State in January of 2021. Shane thrived during his time with Coach Prime and became one of the top receivers in the portal. His size and radius make him extremely tough to cover in one on one situations and cause mismatches all over the field. With Coach Freeze coming to Auburn, there is no doubt that Hooks can become a star in the offense and be one of the leading receivers on the team.
