Spring Transfer Portal Window: Who is Hot? (Part 6)

While the spring transfer portal window is now officially closed, the chaos continues. These are some of the players who have been piling up the offers.

DL Eddie Kelly – USF

The skinny: Since entering the portal two weeks ago, Kelly has steadily added offers to his growing list of options. Ole Miss, Missouri, UCF, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Western Kentucky, Liberty, Coastal Carolina, Texas State, Troy, UAB and Jacksonville State have all offered, and he has already taken an official visit to Georgia Tech. No other visits are planned at this time, but look for Kelly, who has three years of eligibility remaining, to take at least a couple more before making a decision.

DB Demetrius Hill – FIU

The skinny: After redshirting in 2021, Hill burst onto the national scene as a redshirt freshman with 95 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, one interception and three forced fumbles in 2022. He then surprised some by entering the portal last week, which has resulted in offers from Virginia Tech, Memphis, Charlotte, UAB and UNLV. His first official visit went to the Hokies, who hosted Hill on Wednesday. No other visits are currently scheduled, but aside from the schools that have already offered, Georgia Tech is another one to keep an eye on.

OL Cade Briggs – Texas Tech

The skinny: After transferring from New Mexico to Texas Tech during the last cycle, Briggs re-entered the portal as a grad transfer during the spring window. While he only played in two games during his one season with the Red Raiders, interest has been steady for Briggs. Offers have come in from Duke, Louisville, Coastal Carolina, Arizona State, Liberty, Texas State, Appalachian State and Georgia State. He has already taken official visits to Louisville and Coastal Carolina and will next visit Duke. While additional schools, like Minnesota, USF, Nevada and Houston, are still involved, this will likely come down to the three schools who have received an official visit. Expect a decision sooner than later.

DB Marcus Scott – Missouri

The skinny: Since entering the portal more than two weeks ago, Scott has picked up offers from Cal, UNLV, Coastal Carolina, Abilene Christian and Prairie View A&M. His first two visits were to Cal and UNLV last weekend. While he has yet to commit, the leader continues to be Cal, which hosted two other transfers last weekend, offensive lineman Matthew Wykoff (Texas A&M) and wide receiver Marquez Dortch (Mississippi State), who have both committed to the Golden Bears since the visit. Will he take an additional visit this weekend or will he soon commit to Cal?

DL Kamari Stephens – Florida A&M

The skinny: Coming off a 2022 season when he totaled 12.5 tackles for a loss and 10.5 sacks, Stephens was a late addition to the portal who quickly caught other school’s attention. That attention has led to offers from UCF, UAB, Western Kentucky, Utah State and North Texas since Tuesday. On top of that, serious interest is also coming in from Kentucky, Virginia, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Kansas. An official visit to UCF is basically guaranteed, but who else might host Stephens? That is dependent on whether additional offers come his way in the next couple of days. But for now, the Knights are the leaders.
