The G5 has Many Talented Players in the Portal

An all-conference CB and a Top 25 receiver in TD catches are available in the transfer portal.

The Group of Five is well represented in the transfer portal as the spring portal window comes to a close on the 30th. Talented players from the Sun Belt, the AAC, and Conference USA are available to upgrade team rosters and depth charts.


WR Trent Hudson

New Mexico State Aggies

6’3”, 180 lbs.

In 2023, Trent Hudson led the Aggies in touchdown catches with 10. Hudson hauled in 36 passes for 571 yards. In addition, Hudson posted two games of 100+ yards receiving, and three games with multiple touchdown catches.

In a 27-13 win over Sam Houston, Hudson posted a season-high 122 yards and two TDs. Hudson has already received an offer from the Minnesota Golden Gophers.


CB D’Angelo Ponds

James Madison Dukes

5’9”, 162 lbs.

As a 2nd Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, D’Angelo Ponds picked off two passes and broke up 13 passes, which tied for #11 in the FBS. In addition, Ponds recorded 51 tackles and two tackles for loss. Ponds posted a season-high eight tackles in a win over UConn.

For his efforts, Ponds was named a Freshman All-American and Freshman Cornerback of the Year by the College Football Network.

A Florida native, Ponds has several potential destinations that include Florida, Miami, Florida State, along with Indiana and former coach Curt Cignetti, Missouri, Syracuse, and Tulane.


LB Stephen Dix, Jr.

Marshall Thundering Herd

6’1”, 237 lbs.

Last season, Stephen Dix, Jr. was #3 on the team in tackles with 67. In addition, Dix, Jr. recorded seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup. Dix, Jr. is a former Florida State Seminole who played two seasons in Tallahassee and racked up 58 tackles during his time with the ‘Noles.

As possible landing spots, Dix, Jr, could return to Florida State, as well as upgrade rosters at Miami or with the Florida Gators.


LB Khalil Jacobs

South Alabama Jaguars

6’2”, 218 lbs.

For the Jags in 2023, Khalil Jacobs recorded 56 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss. In addition, Jacobs picked off a pass and forced three fumbles. In a 55-3 win over Southern Miss, Jacobs terrorized the Golden Eagles, to the tune of eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and a forced fumble.

Schools interested in Jacobs include Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Indiana, Missouri, NC State, and Tulane.


Edge Tramel Logan

South Florida Bulls

6’4”, 247 lbs.

In 2023, Tramel Logan recorded 33 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. In addition, Logan broke up four passes and intercepted a pass, returning for a touchdown. In a win over Temple, Logan posted three tackles, two tackles for loss, and the aforementioned pick-six.

Logan also returned fumbles for touchdowns against Navy (70 yards) and Syracuse (61 yards) in the Boca Raton Bowl. As a Miami native, potential landing spots for Logan could be the Miami Hurricanes, or maybe Florida State.
