There’s Always Something Special About Coming Home

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”276″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]There is always something a little extra special about coming home, that is what Jaylen Pate will now get to experience as he’s chosen to transfer to Northwestern. When speaking to him about his decision to transfer to Northwestern, Pate raved about the upgrades they’ve made to the facilities in the last few years. He also identified the scheme fit being similar to the one he played in at Wyoming making it a “ seamless fit “.

When asking him about his commitment he told me “ This is exactly what I wanted for real a Perfect fit, I loved the atmosphere of the building and how the coaches went about things “

Pate is a 6’3, 247 pound defensive end and out of high school he was rated as a 3 star prospect. In 2018 he committed to Wyoming where he received moderate playing time, he started in 6 games last season. He was in the mix to compete for a full time starting role next season at Wyoming. Pate is a graduate transfer who redshirted as a freshman in 2019 meaning he isn’t your typical one and done graduate transfer. Instead he will have two years of eligibility left when he arrives on Campus. The impact Pate will make at Northwestern will be dependent on if he can win a job or impress in a rotational role on the defensive line during his first season . I’d expect him to be at least a rotational guy heading into his first season with the wildcats with the upside of being a two year starter.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
