The transfer portal is as active as ever. Here are the top five QBs available.

1. Emory Jones – Florida

Portal entry date: 3-19-2022

Grad-transfer: Yes

Career at Florida: After seeing spot duty during his first three seasons with the Gators, Jones showcased his abilities during the 2021 season by passing for 2,734 yards and 19 touchdowns, while completing 64.7% of his passes. He also rushed for 759 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Current situation: Jones has remained relatively quiet since his entry into the portal, but did take a visit to Arizona State a couple of weeks ago. He just graduated from Florida over the weekend, so he should once again re-focus on finding his future home in the coming weeks.

2. Gerry Bohanon – Baylor

Portal entry date: 4-27-2022

Grad-transfer: Yes

Career at Baylor: Similar to Jones, Bohanon waited his turn in Waco until the 2021 season, when he finished with 2,200 yards and 18 touchdowns through the air. He also rushed for 323 yards and nine touchdowns.

Current situation: With the recent surprising news that Blake Shapen would be Baylor’s starter this fall, Bohanon made the quick decision to finish his career elsewhere. And just as quickly a favorite has also emerged, as he has already taken a visit to Missouri. The Tigers are seen as the heavy favorite right now.

3. Jack Sears – Boise State

Portal entry date: 12-1-2021

Grad-transfer: No

Career at USC/Boise State:  Sears completed 20 of 28 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns during the one game he played with USC. After transferring to Boise State, he completed 25 of 33 passes for 380 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. While he has only attempted 61 passes during his collegiate career, he has completed 73.8% of his attempts.

Current situation: Sears has been in the portal for more than five months now and has successfully remained quiet about his future. While he only has 61 pass attempts in his collegiate career, his performance during this time should have made him a priority for several programs.

4. Peter Costelli – Utah

Portal entry date: 11-23-2021

Grad-transfer: No

Career at Utah:  Costelli entered the portal during his true freshman season at Utah, and before every seeing the field in Salt Lake City.

Current situation: As with Sears, it is odd that Costelli is still in the portal as he had upwards of 20 offers when he committed to the Utes in the spring of 2020. There have been a couple of schools associated with him over the last few months, but nothing has materialized to this point. Virginia Tech was rumored at one point, while now Coastal Carolina is one to watch.

5. Grant Gunnell – Memphis

Portal entry date: 4-29-2022

Grad-transfer: Yes

Career at Arizona/Memphis: At Arizona, Gunnell completed 165 of 248 passes for 1,864 yards, 15 touchdowns and only three interceptions. However, after transferring to Memphis, he did not see the field during the 2021 season due to a right leg injury.

Current situation: Back healthy this spring, Gunnell performed well during camp while battling Seth Henigan, who impressed last season as a true freshman, for the staring job. After only a couple of days in the portal, some of the schools showing serious interest include North Texas, Rice, Temple, New Mexico, Troy, Incarnate Word and Abilene Christian.
