College football fans are a neurotic group, so when a committed player is seen wearing the gear of a conference rival, it quickly becomes a stressful situation. That is the case with Illinois commit Victor Singleton, who was seen yesterday wearing a Michigan backpack:

Singleton, who committed to the Illini earlier this month, isn’t just any recruit. He is a four-star cornerback from Ohio who chose Illinois over the in-state Buckeyes and yes, Michigan.
So, is this something that Illinois fans should be stressing about? Recruits generally don’t take things like this as seriously as fans. It is quite possible that he just grabbed the first backup he had in his closet and didn’t think twice about it. However, it is also understandable for an Illinois fan to at least be slightly concerned about this. Especially since it involves Michigan, which is far from bashful when it comes to throwing serious money at recruits it really wants in today’s NIL world.
While most Illinois fans won’t lose sleep over this, it will now be in the back of their minds until Singleton officially signs with the Illini.
