Where could these touted players land next?
The Transfer Portal has changed the game of college football. Players can follow their coaches to new schools or leave for more playing time and a better chance to make the NFL. Many players enter their names in the “portal” late in the season to ensure they are at the top of boards for many colleges. Today we will look at the seven QBs who have entered the portal and where they can end up next season.
1. Hank Bachmeier (Boise State)

- Murrieta Valley, (CA)
- Immediate Eligibility (2 Years), 2019 Class
- 4-Star, 235st, 6th QB, 30th In California
- Stats: 6,605 Yards, 41 TDs, 19 INTs, 136.4 RTG
Boise State Senior Hank Bachmeier entered the portal in late September after losing the starting job after four games. Hank had a stellar 2021 season as the Bronco’s signal caller, throwing over 3 thousand yards and 20 touchdowns. Bachmeier struggled to find similar success this year. Hank has two years of eligibility left and will be a great addition to a competing offense. I believe Hank stays in the Mountain West, and like Luther Richesson, he returns to his home state. San Diego State has been a solid team in the MWC for years and can compete, and Hank would stay home and still be in the same conference and compete. Obviously, it is early, and Hank will garnish interest from more schools, but the Aztecs are my early pick to land the veteran QB.
My Early Prediction: San Diego State

2. Brendon Lewis (Colorado)

More Sports News
- Melissa, (TX)
- Immediate Eligibility, 2020
- Class 3-Star, 427th, 19th QB, 57th In Texas
- Stats: 1,727 Yards, 10 TDs, 3 INTs, 117.5 RTG
Brendon Lewis was a star for Colorado last year. Brendon entered the transfer portal after an abysmal start to the season for Colorado that left their Head Coach out of a job. Lewis is a solid dual-threat quarterback who will be beneficial to any team. The Melissa, Texas product held 15 offers out of high school, ultimately choosing Colorado. Among the schools that recruited him, one stands out. Houston, with Clayton Tune and Nathaniel Dell, has been electrifying to watch this season and has created a legitimate offensive threat to many teams. I believe with his dual-threat ability and the right coaching, Houston can make Brendon Lewis a star.

3. Brett Gabbert (Miami OH)
- Christian Brothers College, (MO)
- Immediate Eligibility, 2019 Class
- 3-Star, 1,177th, 38th QB, 28th In Missouri
- Stats: 6,259 Yards, 45 TDs, 14 INTs, 143.3 RTG
Brett Gabbert has entered the transfer portal. Brett is the brother of former Missouri and NFL QB Blaine Gabbert making this one easy. Gabbert had a successful career at Miami and is definitely one of the top transfer QBs available in this year’s cycle.
My Early Prediction: Missouri

4. Jordan McCloud (Arizona/USF)
- Plant, (FL)
- Immediate Eligibility (3 Years), 2018 Class
- 3-Star, 1,705th, 42nd QB, 275th In Florida
- Stats: 901 Yards, 5 TDs, 6 INTs, 101.2 RTG
Jordan McCloud entered his name in the portal for the second time in his career. Like Tuttle, McCloud was a recruit in the 2018 class. With USF losing their Head Coach and on a downward spiral, McCloud could return to his home state and his former team in USF. The Bulls are an early favorite to land the former 3-star.
My Early Prediction: USF

5. Jack Tuttle (Indiana/Utah)
- Mission Hills, (CA)
- Immediate Eligibility (1 Year), 2018 Class
- 4-Star, 167th, 8th QB, 25th In California
- Stats: 901 Yards, 5 TDs, 6 INTs, 101.2 RTG
Jack Tuttle is a college football journeyman, the former 4-star in the 2018 class originally committed to Utah before transferring to Indiana. Tuttle rarely saw the field at Indiana backing up Michael Penix Jr and Connor Bazelak. Unfortunately, Tuttle has just one year of playing time left, and with little in-game experience, not many schools will turn to the former Mission Hills star. I can not yet make a prediction for Jack Tuttle, but my best guess would be a school in California. Tuttle is #3 based on his longevity in college football.
My Early Prediction: N/A

6. Luther Richesson (Cincinnati)
- Lipscomb Academy, (TN)
- Immediate Eligibility, 2022 Class
- 3-Star, 791st, 44th QB, 25th In Tennessee
- Stats: N/A
Cincinnati freshman Luther Richesson entered the portal in August and has yet to appear in a collegiate game. Luther attended Lipscomb Academy in Tennessee and learned from former NFL QB Trent Dilfer. Richesson has the tools to become a solid college QB if he finds the right home. The Nashville native held six offers, with Michigan St being the most prestigious. I believe Luther will return to Tennessee and pick an in-state school close to home. Vanderbilt was involved in his recruitment, and while they have solid options, it would not shock me to see Luther pick the Commodores as his next home. Schools like Middle Tennessee State and Austin Peay can also be players for Luther.
My Early Prediction: Vanderbilt

7. Deacon Hill (Wisconsin)
- Lipscomb Academy, (TN)
- Immediate Eligibility, 2021 Class
- 3-Star, 493rd, 39th QB, 40th In California
- Stats: N/A
Deacon Hill is a lesser-known player in the college football world. The 3-star QB from the class of 2021 barely saw the field in his two years at Wisconsin. With the news of former coach Paul Chryst being fired, Hill felt it was time to take his talents elsewhere. I would predict either Hill commits to a California school or follows his former coach to his next destination.
