Grayson Wilson, a four-star QB from Maumelle, Arkansas, was kind enough to join Cory Lemer of Mike Farrell Sports to discuss his recruitment and commitment to the Razorbacks. During the interview, Wilson discussed why he chose Arkansas, how the recruitment process went, and his goals for the rest of his High School career and at Arkansas.

The 4A Private school starter will rank as a top forty QB in the Mike Farrell Sports staff rankings. He also ranks thirty-second as a QB in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings and 448th nationally. Through the early part of his recruitment, Grayson received four offers from Arkansas, Central Arkansas, Illinois, and Pittsburgh.

Wilson has a solid build for the QB position standing at 6-3 185 pounds. It could help to add 5-10 pounds of good muscle at the next level. He has an elite pocket presence and keeps his head on a swivel while looking for an open receiver. He can throw the ball 50+ yards with solid accuracy setting up easy receptions for his offense. Wilson can hit all levels of the field, but his accuracy tends to deplete occasionally. He is great with pressure and can throw on the run with acceptable accuracy. Escaping pressure is easy for Wilson, as he has decent legs and can create plays on the run. Overall he is a solid prospect with the traits to suit up on Saturdays. Fine-tuning is needed for his skills over the next two years to help prepare him for college. Grayson Wilson Breaks Down His Recruitment

The Central Arkansas Christian product grew up dreaming of playing in his home state. The Maumelle quarterback started playing football when he was eight as an RB. Wilson later switched to a QB, which has stuck and given him loads of success.

Wilson first visited Arkansas for Junior Day back in January and came back in March for an unofficial visit and received a scholarship from Razorbacks before he went home. He took two more visits to Arkansas before committing to Coach Pittman on April 15th. Despite committing early in his recruitment, Wilson is locked in with Arkansas.

“I have no other visits planned”

When asked why Arkansas, Wilson stated.

“It really is my dream school. It is truly special to play for my home state. Fayetteville is an awesome place. I dreamed and prayed about this, and Arkansas feels like home.”

Before his sophomore season, Wilson received his first offer from Illinois and then Central Arkansas. Playing in his home state was always the dream for the touted signal caller and after several visits to Arkansas and learning about the staff and the environment, he fell in love with everything the Razorbacks have to offer.

When August 1st hit, coaches wasted no time contacting Wilson. Coaches from Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Miami(OH), and TCU, along with Arkansas OC/QB Coach Dan Enos were among the list of coaches to contact the Arkansas signal caller. Enos, alongside head coach Sam Pittman, are the lead recruiter in his commitment, and Wilson shared his thoughts on what made them special.

“Coach Enos is very detailed and honest with me, and I like that. His thorough coaching and precise style and film review are amazing.”

Grayson models his game after Bills QB Josh Allen and believes that the coaching staff at Arkansas can shape him into the next great gunslinger.

Today, NIL is one of the most prominent factors in college recruitment. Despite this, Grayson was unfazed by the potential of NIL deals he could earn from other schools.

“I committed to the school and staff, not the money”

Making money in college is great, and while Wilson would enjoy earning money, staying in-state with a great fit was more important to him.

He is locked in with the Razorbacks and is even recruiting players to join the Hogs 2025 class.

“Devin Harper at OT from Shreveport, LA, and Elijah Melendez at LB are the guys I have reached out to.”

Wilson is trying to shape the perfect 2025 class for Arkansas, showing fans and the staff he is locked in and ready to compete in the difficult SEC.

Central Arkansas Christian has a new coach this year, Ryan Howard, who came from Central Arkansas University and Missouri. Wilson believes having a coach with this experience has helped his passing game and his ability to read coverages. He also believes his decision-making and development have progressed within this new system. Despite playing for a private school in the Arkansas 4A division, he believes his team is talented and can compete.

Wilson is very pleased with his recruitment so far and is looking towards his junior season, where he hopes to throw for over 2,000 and rush for 750 yards. Central Arkansas Christian starts the season off against Des Arc on August 17th.
