Jamar Malone, a 2025 four-star QB from Bradenton, Florida, was kind enough to discuss his recruitment with Cory Lemer of Mike Farrell Sports. During the interview, Jamar broke down the early part of his recruitment, the transition from Higley High School (Gilbert, Arizona) to IMG Academy, and his upcoming Junior season.

The defending Arizona 5A state champion will rank as a top thirty QB in the upcoming Mike Farrell Sports Staff rankings. He also ranks twenty-ninth at the QB position in the 247 Sports Composite rankings and 367th nationally. Over the early part of his recruitment, Malone has accumulated twelve offers from schools across the country. Schools like Arizona, California, Oregon, and Miami have offered the Bradenton native showing he will end up as one of the top signal callers in the 2025 class.

Film Breakdown

Standing at 6-2 205 pounds, Malone displays an excellent build for the QB position. He will attend IMG Academy this fall, and it is clear the prestigious school will bring out the best in him. On the field, the 2022 Arizona State Champion has a quick zip and quickly delivers the ball to his receivers. He can also hit all levels of the field with acceptable accuracy, but that could improve.

Malone displays a solid understanding of pocket pressure and is not afraid to move around the pocket. He will always look for an open receiver first and only run if needed. The IMG transfer displays a solid understanding of the three-step drop and displays the ability to read the defense while keeping his head on a swivel. Overall, Jamar Malone is an above-average prospect who could use fine-tuning his skills. With two years of high school left and his transfer to IMG, Malone will end up as at least a top-25 QB in my opinion.

Jamar Malone Breaks Down His Recruitment

The IMG Academy prospect grew up in California and started playing football at the age of five. Jamar began his career as an RB for the Lakewood Longhorns and later transitioned to the QB position, where he has seen much success.

Malone is far from the only future college QB on the IMG roster. Liberty commit and three-star QB Jayden Bradford also suits up for the Ascenders. Malone states he is learning a lot from Bradford and that their QB battle is supportive for both.

“Since I arrived, it has been iron sharpens iron. We make each other stronger.”

Bradford and Malone will both share snaps as they look to impress coaches and scouts this fall.

Malone transferred from Highley HS in Arizona, where he had an impressive sophomore season by scoring over sixty times and accumulating over 5,000 total yards. Malone also took home an impressive state championship win, so it begs the question, why transfer?

“IMG is a prestigious school, and the mentality is to win a national championship. The coaches expect it, the players expect it.”

He has already accomplished a lot in his two years in high school, so a national championship seems to be the only box left for him to check. IMG provides a better opportunity for Malone as he will be learning from some of the best coaches in the country, With Higley, Malone only had one coach with college experience. Meanwhile, at IMG, every coach has also coached at college. This is what Malone thinks sets the two schools apart.

With the star-studded schedule for the Ascenders, Malone and the team share a different mentality from other schools on the game they’re most excited about.

“The next one.”

Malone states that while every game is exciting for them, the mentality of the next game is what he believes the team strives for as they look to win a High School national championship.

When August 1st hit, coaches wasted no time contacting Malone. Arizona, Auburn, California, Miami, USC, USF, and more wasted no time reaching out to the touted signal caller. He is actually not worried about gaining offers and feels he can help his teammates on the field, which will translate to more offers later on. However, there is a school that has a good start on Malone.

“The one that stood out for me was Arizona. The whole staff texted me. I got to talk to the coach as well. It was cool to see the love they showed.”

Overall, Malone is not in a hurry to announce his college choice and feels around this time next year, he would like to start thinking about his college commitment.

Malone says the guys who are recruiting him the hardest are Jimmie Dougherty (Arizona State), Lincoln Riley (USC), and Jake Spavital (California). He also states they are his lead recruiters for their schools. While he has no visits planned, I believe he will be back at one of these schools soon.

Malone says he models his game after Tom Brady based on his leadership qualities and his mental aspect of the game. He feels his pocket presence is elite and that many traits about the Hall Of Fame QB carry over to him. Malone has never had a favorite team growing up and is not afraid to go anywhere for college. Despite this, the touted prospect grew up attending the Crosstown Clash against UCLA and USC.

Malone is pleased with his recruitment so far and is looking forward to his Junior season, where he looks to continue putting in hard work to impress scouts and win a national championship with IMG. The recruitment is just getting started for Malone and we can expect more visits, offers, and news soon.
