Notre Dame being your first power five college football offer is not what usually happens, but that wasn’t the case for 2025 running back Daniel Anderson.

The 5’10, 185 pound back from Bryant, Arkansas recently camped at Notre Dame in June and received the offer after an impressive performance. Anderson even said he was surprised when The Notre Dame staff offered him.

“I honestly never expected it was a huge surprise, and I was greatly honored to have them as my second official.”

The atmosphere and enthusiasm stood out to Anderson during his first visit. He felt welcomed by the staff and sees why Notre Dame is one of the best programs year in and year out.

“The camp at Notre Dame was great. It was very well organized and the staff made it highly enjoyable. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the enthusiasm they brought to the table. They gave me a really welcoming feel. I believe they have an amazing football program and it definitely shows why there considering one of the best.”

Coach Freeman and Coach McCullough both made a great first impression on the talented running back.

“Coach McCullough had lots of energy at the camp and spoke to us on a real player-to-player level and made it enjoyable while learning new drills to sharpen our skills. And Coach Freeman had a huge impact on me especially with Notre Dame being one of my first Power 5 offers. He was such an honest and genuine guy and made me feel welcomed. He really embraced the homey feel that you would get with the players and team.”

Nov 5, 2022; South Bend, Indiana, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman talks to defensive lineman Justin Ademilola (9) in the first quarter against the Clemson Tigers at Notre Dame Stadium.

Anderson already scheduled a return visit to Notre Dame on July 30th. The second visit will be a big one as he will get a complete look at the school and facilities.

“We will be at Notre Dame again on July 30th. I would like to meet and connect with some of the players.”

Anderson can really see himself fitting in at Notre Dame due to both elite academics and athletics.

“Yes, especially with them putting an emphasis on academics and athletics. It’s like the best of both worlds. I could see myself fitting in.”
