Prospects in the News

–Cormani McClain, CB, Lakeland, Florida (Lakeland HS), #2 nationally, #1 cornerback, and #1 in FL

Cormani McClain committed to the Miami Hurricanes on October 27 and was set to sign on the first day of the Early Signing Period. However, that did not happen; since then, he has been linked to the Colorado Buffaloes and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Despite all the uncertainty, 247 Sports has crystal balled him to the Buffaloes. McLain is the second overall player in the 2023 class and the number-one cornerback. His recruitment has been fascinating since no one really knows which way he is leaning. McClain could end up being a Buffalo, or he could be a Hurricane. On the other hand, he may end up with the Crimson Tide. We will know for sure once he signs. But until then, we wait and keep enjoying the show.

–Jamarion Wilcox, RB, Douglasville, Georgia (South Paulding HS), #543 nationally, #37 running back, and #55 in GA

Three-star Douglasville (GA.) running back Jamarion Wilcox committed to the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday night. He chose them over the Auburn Tigers, Clemson Tigers, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Wilcox officially visited Lexington in October when the Wildcats hosted the Mississippi State Bulldogs. That was the only official visit he made. He joins a Wildcats class ranked No. 31 overall and eleventh in the SEC.

–Christian Bentancur, 2024 TE, Woodstock, Illinois (Marian Central Catholic), #102 nationally, #4 tight end, and #3 in IL

Christian Bentancur committed to the Clemson Tigers on Friday afternoon, choosing them over the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks. He is a four-star 2024 tight end from Woodstock (IL.) and the No. 3 player in Illinois. The Tigers offered him at a camp during the summer, and they had been the team to beat since then. Bentancur was in Death Valley when the Tigers hosted the Louisville Cardinals and said he immediately felt at home. He becomes the third overall and highest recruit in the Tigers 2024 class.

–Jaylen Heyward, 2024 S, Rockledge, Florida (Rockledge HS), #34 nationally, #3 safety, and #9 in FL

Jaylen Heyward committed to the back-to-back national champion Georgia Bulldogs on Friday. He chose them over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Michigan Wolverines, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Heyward, a four-star 2024 safety from Rockledge (FL.) and the No. 9 player in Florida, said he chose the Bulldogs because of defensive coordinator/safeties coach Will Muschamp and head coach Kirby Smart. Heyward said,

“The way coach Muschamp coaches his safeties. He’s one of the best Defensive Coordinators in the nation his history shows it. Also, Coach Smart, he was an all-American DB himself, so he will be with us defensive backs the majority of the time during practice.”

He adds to a Bulldogs 2024 class that is currently ranked first overall.

–Dylan Raiola, 2024 QB, Chandler, Arizona (Chandler HS), #1 nationally, #1 quarterback, and #1 in AZ

Dylan Raiola has had a busy week. First, he attended the College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Georgia Bulldogs and TCU Horned Frogs. He is a five-star 2024 quarterback from Chandler (AZ.) who is the no. 1  player in the class. Then, on Friday, Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Matt Rhule visited his high school and tweeted a photo of the football field. Raiola was committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes but backed off his pledge on December 17th. Since then, he has been linked to the Cornhuskers. His father, Dominic was an All-American at Nebraska and his uncle Donovan is the offensive line coach. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Huskers with a 40% chance of landing him. Nebraska is the favorite right now, but Georgia could be the team to watch out for here.
