The Colorado Buffaloes hired Deion Sanders as their next head coach on Sunday, and Coach Prime is already hard at work on the recruiting trail. He has already offered some big names in this year’s class and has done the same for the 2024 class as well. Now, I wonder if he will get any of these players, but it will be something to keep an eye on, and the Buffaloes will be a team to pay attention to now in recruiting and when the 2024 season kicks off. So let’s look at all who he is targeting. Also, we are specifically focusing on prep targets here. We will be covering Colorado’s key transfer targets in the future as well.

Key Targets

–4-star TE Ethan Davis, Collins Hill High School, Suwanee, Georgia.

Ethan Davis is the No, 125 national, No. 6 tight end, and the No. 7 player in Georgia and has been committed to the Tennessee Volunteers since last December. However, the Colorado Buffaloes and new head coach Deion Sanders offered him Sunday night. Colorado already has two tight ends in their 2023 class that ranks No. 42 overall, but if they could flip Davis, that would be a great pickup.

–4-star 2024 RB Stacy Gage, Wharton High School, Tampa, Florida.

Stacy Gage is the No. 140 national, No. 12 running back, and the No. 22 player in Florida in the 2024 class, and he is another player who received an offer from the Buffaloes. He has over 40 offers, and right now, the Florida Gators (21.1%) and Ohio State Buckeyes (18.4%) are the two teams in the lead to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. So those two schools will be the ones to beat.

–4-star 2024 TE Tayvion Galloway, Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, Ohio.

Tayvion Galloway is the No. 180 national, No. 8 tight end, and the No. 7 player in Ohio in the 2024 class, who is committed to the LSU Tigers, choosing them in July. However, he was offered by the Colorado Buffaloes on Sunday as well. He is part of a 2024 Tigers class that is ranked No. 1 overall.

–3-star CB Jarvis Lee, IMG Academy, Bradenton, Florida.

Jarvis Lee is the No. 952 national, No. 95 cornerback, and the No. 137 player in Florida who is committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. However, he is one of a handful of players who the Colorado Buffaloes offered on Sunday. Lee chose Georgia Tech over the Purdue Boilermakers, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Virginia Cavaliers. Given the programs that have initially recruited him, I think the Buffaloes have a chance at flipping him.

–5-star OT Kadyn Proctor, Southeast Polk High School, Des Moines, Iowa.

Kadyn Proctor is the No. 12 national, No. 2 offensive tackle, and the No. 1 player in Iowa who has been committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes since June. The interesting thing here is that Jackson State was one of his finalists before he ultimately chose the Hawkeyes. Proctor has all kinds of offers, but the teams making the most noise are the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Oregon Ducks. If the Buffs could flip him, that would be a major win for them.

–5-star 2025 WR Winston Watkins Jr. IMG Academy, Fort Myers, Florida.

Winston Watkins Jr. is the No. 13 national, No. 4 wide receiver, and the No. 3 player in Florida in the 2025 class, and he committed to the Colorado Buffaloes and new head coach Deion Sanders on Sunday. Watkins had been committed to the Texas A&M Aggies before he backed off his pledge in November. So he becomes the first player to commit to the Buffaloes under Sanders.
