Some families have the benefit of having extremely impressive athletic genes. That is the case with the Nussmeier’s. While current LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is getting most of the attention, his younger brother, Colton Nussmeier, continues to pile up offers.
A Class of 2027 recruit who plays at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas, Colton now has upwards of 20 offers after recently announcing his most recent from LSU’s SEC rival.

The Gators join an impressive list of offers, which also includes Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, Indiana, SMU, Arkansas, Baylor and yes, LSU.
Even before Colton and Garrett, the quarterback tree started with their father, Doug Nussmeier, who finished his collegiate career at Idaho as the Vandals all-time leading passer with 10,824 yards and 91 touchdowns. He also won the FCS version of the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Payton Award, after the 1993 season.
Garrett is currently in the limelight, as one of the front runners for the 2025 Heisman Trophy. Coming off a 2024 season when he passed for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns, expectations are extremely high in Baton Rouge that even bigger things are coming.

Once Garrett is done with his Tigers’ career, Colton’s limelight will get brighter. As a Class of 2027 recruit, he still has plenty of time to weigh his options, which are sure to grow in the coming months. But you can be sure that LSU will be a contender until the end.
