After what many have considered to be one of the biggest weekends for official visits across the county, many top uncommitted players have found a place to call home. Here we take a look at some of the more impactful names to commit, the impact on the class they join, and more on the recruiting trail:

Antwann Hill

#183 NAT, #16 QB, #27 GA

Committed to Memphis on June 22nd

It’s not often that you see a top-20 quarterback take the route of going to a non-power conference team, making the recruiting win even more impressive for coach Ryan Silverfield and the Tigers. The 6’5″, 215-pound quarterback chose Memphis over Florida on Saturday, and was once a commit to coach Deion Sanders and Colorado.

Isaiah Gibson

#36 NAT, #2 EDGE, #8 GA

Committed to Georgia on June 24th

Fresh off visits to Ohio State and Oklahoma, the Peach state product decided to give his pledge to coach Kirby Smart and the Dawgs after a recent decommitment to USC. Gibson marks the fifteenth commitment of the class, and I don’t think anyone would be surprised to see fellow former USC commit Justus Terry (#2 DL) make the decision to join him in Athens.

LaJesse Harrold

#120 NAT, #12 EDGE, #17 FL

Committed to LSU on June 22nd

Joining a class loaded full of blue chip prospects, LaJesse Harrold makes twelve commitments for the Tigers as we head into the recruiting dead period. The 6’5″ , 215-pound edge rusher committed to coach Brian Kelly and LSU over home-state schools UCF and Florida, and has given every reason to think his recruitment is shut down.

Micah DeBose

#89 NAT, #8 OT, #8 AL

Committed to Alabama on June 22nd

When you think of recruiting dominoes falling, offensive tackle is a pretty important position to pay attention to. Pairing DeBose with Jackson Lloyd (#19 OT) is nicely done by coach Kalen Deboer and his staff, who many had questions about how well he could recruit the South coming to a program like Alabama. I would say landing a talented in-state prospect at a premier position might silence a few critics.

Jabree Wallace-Coleman

#186 NAT, #12 RB, #4 PA

Committed to Penn State on June 22nd

Things are looking up for coach James Franklin after securing the talented running back’s pledge one day after Alvin Henderson (#8 RB) flipped his commitment to Auburn. The 6′, 205-pound in-state athlete chose the Nittany Lions over North Carolina and Rutgers, yet another nice in-state win which fits the bill for James Franklin’s recruiting strategy.

Donovan Johnson

#232 NAT, #16 RB, #34 FL

Committed to Michigan on June 23rd

After a big recruiting weekend in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines and coach Sherrone Moore have landed their second running back in the class. Once offered by running backs coach Tony Alford at Ohio State, it’s unclear who was still in the mix for Johnson at the end of his recruitment as he looks to bounce back after missing his junior season at IMG with a knee injury.

Mario Nash

#299 NAT, #18 IOL, #11 MS

Committed to Mississippi State on June 23rd

The Bulldogs landing in-state lineman Mario Nash over the likes of in-state rival Ole Miss might be the biggest win of the cycle for coach Jeff Lebby and his staff. Now marking seventeen commits in the class, you could argue that this a top-25 class heading into the recruiting dead period.

DJ McClary

#202 NAT, #25 LB, #4 NJ

Committed to Rutgers on June 23rd

To say flipping DJ McClary from Penn State would be an understatement for coach Greg Schiano and the Scarlet Knights. With yet another in-state commitment, Rutgers is sitting at twenty-eight commits in the class and pushing for a top-10 class. There’s always going to be uncertainty of what will hold until signing day, but things are definitely looking up with recruiting in Piscataway.

Emmanuel Choice

#411 NAT, #66 WR, #62 TX

Committed to Oklahoma on June 23rd

The fourth wide receiver in the Sooners’ class, the 6’4″, 195-pound athlete gives coach Brent Venables and his staff another weapon to use in their high-octane offense in Norman. Sitting at seventeen commits heading into the dead period, you could argue that a top-5 class is in the fold for Oklahoma with some of their remaining targets.

Cortez Harris

#248 NAT, #20 EDGE, #5 MD

Committed to Penn State on June 23rd

Another regional win just up the road in Maryland for coach James Franklin and his staff, Harris joins Max Granville (#22 EDGE) in the class at edge rusher, both committing within two days. You could argue that the Nittany Lions had one of the best recruiting weekends in the country, and you would have to think there might be more good news to come.

Zion Grady

#66 NAT, #6 EDGE, #6 AL

Committed to Ohio State on June 24th

There are a lot of people in the recruiting world who have said defensive line coach Larry Johnson had lost his fast ball, but going into Alabama and landing Zion Grady over the Crimson Tide may turn some heads. The nineteenth commit in the class, you could make the case that coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes currently have the number one class headed into the dead period.

Douglas Utu

#67 NAT, #2 IOL, #2 NV

Committed to Tennessee on June 24th

Landing arguably the top offensive tackle in a recruiting cycle is a big deal for coach Josh Heupel and Tennessee, and you have to wonder if they’re still in for David Sanders (#1 OT) which could make the cycle a home run for the Vols. Sitting at fourteen commitments heading into the dead period, I would look for there to be a lot more noise as we inch closer to signing day.
