Prospects in the News

Edrees Farooq, Safety, Baltimore, MD (St Frances Academy HS), #561 Nationally, #47 Safety, #17 in Maryland

On Sunday, Baltimore native Edrees Farooq committed to Josh Heupel and Tennessee. Edrees is the brother of Oklahoma wide receiver Jalil Farooq.

Ohio State pushed hard for Farooq late, but ultimately he chose the Vols due to how loyal they were to him as a prospect while recruiting him. “Tennessee proved to me they were loyal because they’ve been there the whole time and kept the same energy. They didn’t change up for no one” The talented safety prospect is the third defensive back commit in Tennessee’s 2024 class, joining Marcus Goree and Kaleb Beasley. He looks to be a part of a big-time class for the Vols, which currently ranks number eight nationally.

KJ Daniels, WR, Franklinton LA (Franklinton HS), #16 in Louisiana

Three-star wideout KJ Daniels pledged his commitment to Oklahoma on Monday. The speedster out of Franklinton, Louisiana had high praise for Emmit Jones and the Oklahoma coaching staff.

“The coaching staff stood out to me a lot! I love the way they coach and handle their players. They make sure you’re good on and off the field. Also, I liked the way they used Marvin Mims and they relate me to him.” Daniels is the first wide receiver to commit to the Sooners in the 2024 class. He joins Jeremiah Newcombe and Michael Hawkins Jr. as the first to commit to Oklahoma.

Landen Thomas, TE, Moultrie, GA (Colquitt County HS), #24 Nationally, #1 TE, #5 in Georgia

On Monday, Landen Thomas flipped his commitment from Georgia to Florida State after a recent visit to Tallahassee. The number one tight end in the class of 2025 stated that FSU has always been in his heart and that the Seminoles have “something special brewing.”

Mike Norvell and company continue to put in work on the recruiting trail, and Florida State is only getting better. This is a massive win for FSU, arguably the greatest one to date under Mike Norvell.

Donovan Harbour, OL, Waukesha, Wi, (Catholic Memorial HS), #137 Nationally, #7 IOL, #1 in Wisconsin

On Tuesday, ballyhooed offensive lineman Donovan Harbour committed to James Franklin and Penn State. The mammoth out of Wisconsin chose the Nittany Lions over the likes of Florida, Ohio State, Michigan, and Oregon.

He liked how much Penn State prioritized his education, saying, “[James Franklin] said it’s not a three to four year plan, it’s a four to five year plan. He said it’s four or five years to get a degree and then go to the NFL Draft. I liked that it’s student first, not athlete first. Other colleges say it’s a three year or four year plan and didn’t talk about the degree.” He is the 10th commit in the Nittany Lions’ sixth-ranked class in 2024. This is a big pickup for Penn State, one that should have fans excited.
