Farrell’s Latest Recruiting Rumors: Reclassifying Quarterbacks, Miami All in on Jeremiah Smith

Mike Farrell relays the latest buzz he’s hearing from the recruiting trail, including big-time QBs who are…

Here are the latest recruiting rumors I’m hearing.

Two quarterbacks with reclassification situations are being talked about. Florida QB Davi Belfort, who reclassified from 2025 to 2024 has a final three of Michigan State, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech. Some have him as a 4-star while I have him as a high 3-star. But regardless he’s going to be a good get for someone. Most of the sources I talk to favor Michigan State here, with only one saying the Hokies, and I don’t think A&M is as involved as the others.

The other QB is 2025 Kentucky QB Cutter Boley who was rumored to be reclassifying to the 2024 class. However, that decision hasn’t been made and I hear he’s leaning towards staying in the 2025 class unless the perfect scenario arises. Boley is much more highly rated than Belfort and has a chance to be a 5-star in 2025. He will be obviously be pursued by Kentucky and Louisville and he wants to visit Florida State, Penn State, Michigan, LSU and Miami this spring but I keep hearing him mentioned with Josh Heupel and the Vols. He visited there this weekend and I do believe they are the team to beat despite some thinking it’s the Wildcats. Keep an eye on this one.

And finally, I’ve been told if there’s one team for Ohio State to worry about with 5 star WR Jeremiah Smith it’s Miami. The ‘Canes desperately need WR help and he’s a local so they will go all out — and I mean all out — to land him. The promotion of Brian Hartline to Offensive Coordinator helps this situation greatly for the Buckeyes as he’s the key to Smith, but Ohio State is also loaded at wide receiver and pursuing 5-stars Micah Hudson and Mike Matthews. Meanwhile, Miami’s receiving core is weak and Smith could come in and be WR1 right away in the 2024 season. There’s a long way to go here and the Buckeyes are in great shape but Miami’s positional need for a local would concern me.
