Prospects in the News

Hauss Hejny, QB, Aledo, TX (Aledo HS), #761 Nationally, #43 QB, #114 in Texas

On Thursday, 2024 quarterback Hauss Hejny committed to the TCU Horned Frogs. Hejny is a TCU legacy, as his father Jesse played defensive end under Gary Patterson from 2005-2006.

Hejny was originally committed to Duke but decided to make the move to TCU. He is the first commit of TCU’s 2024 class.

“I felt good about the direction of their program, but at the end of the day, there were opportunities that I had always dreamed of that were coming in. So, I wanted to do the right thing. Me decommiting left them in a bad spot to find a quarterback in a short amount of time, but I just want to enjoy this process and look it over, and scale things out. And I’ve always wanted to go to TCU. I grew up a Horned Frog.”

The Aledo quarterback accounted for over 3200 yards and 35 touchdowns last season and led his team to win the state title game. I think he’s a great addition to TCU, one that will mesh really well with Kendall Briles’s offensive scheme.

Kobe Black, CB, Waco, TX (Connally HS), #16 Nationally, #3 CB, #3 in Texas

On Thursday, ballyhooed defensive back Kobe Black released his top 11 schools, which included LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Alabama, USC, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Oregon, Texas, TCU, and Florida.

His recruitment is still very much up in the air, but some schools that have made some of the most impactful impressions on him so far have been Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and Ohio State. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out as these schools do everything they can to acquire the Texas high school standout’s services.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

Edwin Spillman, LB, Nashville, TN (Lipscomb Academy HS), #245 Nationally, #22 LB, #3 in Tennessee

On Thursday, four-star linebacker Edwin Spillman released a list of his top six schools, which were Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and UAB. He was a second-team Max Preps Junior All-American last season after racking up 101 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, as well as six PBUs. Obviously, with Spillman being from the state of Tennessee, the Vols are a big player here, especially when you consider the fact that his high school teammate, Kaleb Beasley, has been committed to UT since October of last year. Still, the Buckeyes are a pretty big player here too, one that I wouldn’t count out yet. Ohio State and Tennessee are widely considered the front-runners for Spillman, with Tennessee being the leader. There’s still a lot of time left until signing day, but I’d be shocked if he doesn’t end up as a Volunteer.

Air Noland, QB, Fairburn, GA (Langston Hughes HS), #84 Nationally, #8 QB, #12 in Georgia

Recently, Air Noland announced that he would be committing on April 8th at 8:45 pm, where he will be choosing between Arkansas, Alabama, Clemson, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas A&M. Noland threw for over 4,000 yards and 55 touchdowns in his junior season. Many recruiting experts believe that Noland will choose the Buckeyes on Saturday. Whoever lands Noland will receive a prolific passer and a cornerstone to their 2024 class.
