In the talent-rich football state of Pennsylvania, many a high school star has gone on to fulfill their dreams of playing college and pro football.

In Coal Township, versatile and talented ATH Logan Steele is making a name for himself among college recruiters. Currently, the junior-to-be holds five Division 1 scholarship offers.

At 5-foot-10, 163 pounds, Steele plays both offense and defense for the Shamokin Area Indians and helped lead his team to a 12-1 record in 2024. Athleticism and versatility are his hallmarks.

As a quarterback, Steele passed for over 1,800 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. In addition, he added 516 yards on the ground and nine more scores. On defense, Steele posted 46 tackles, six INTs, and broke up 10 passes.

In a win over Pottsville, Steele accounted for four touchdowns (3 passing, 1 rushing) in a 27-13 victory. Against Shikellamy, Steele scored five TDs. Steele posted a season-high 273 passing yards and four touchdowns in a one-point victory over Jersey Shore.

For his efforts, Steele earned Class 4A All-State honors as a quarterback.

In the Coal Bucket Game against Mount Carmel, Steele and the Indians’ defense pitched a shutout victory and won this annual battle for the first time in 29 years. He accounted for 196 yards and a touchdown pass in the historic victory.

As he heads into his junior season, Steele has gained over 3,200 total yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Steele has posted 125 tackles and 11 interceptions in just two seasons.

This kind of production early in Steele’s football career has caught the attention of Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss and James Franklin at Penn State, earning him offers from both Power Four schools.

Steele also has scholarship offers from Buffalo, Marshall, and Bowling Green. He will certainly earn more as his high school career progresses.

The Godfather of Recruiting, Mike Farrell, had this to say about Steele,

“2027 verified ATH Logan Steele from PA reminds me of Trace McSorley out of HS. Has big offers, will get more. Can play DB, WR, QB.”—Mike Farrell
