Prospects in the News

Josiah Thompson, OT, Dillon, SC (Dillon HS), #73 Nationally, #5 OT, #2 in South Carolina

On Friday morning, four-star offensive lineman Josiah Thompson announced his commitment to Shane Beamer and South Carolina. The 6-6, 280-pounder decided to stay in-state saying, “South Carolina is a special place. They have amazing coaches, and an amazing staff. It is also, for me, being able to represent my home state. I can do something great in my home state.”

This is a massive win for South Carolina on the recruiting trail, and a wonderful foundation to build on for the 2024 class.

Martavious Collins, ATH, Rome, GA (Rome HS), #501 Nationally, #51 ATH, #54 in Georgia

Martavious Collins announced his commitment to Auburn on Friday. The peach state prospect was previously committed to Alabama, but will now instead be playing for their biggest rival. Collins had his decision made as early as April 8th after he took an unofficial visit to the Tigers. “Saturday kind of sealed the deal. I was going to make sure my mom and them got down there before I even made a decision. If they felt good then it was a go.”

Collins marks the fifth commit in Auburn’s 2024 class. This was a big win for the Tigers, especially considering that they beat out their arch-rival Nick Saban and Alabama.

Chance Robinson, WR, Fort Lauderdale, FL (St. Thomas Aquinas HS), #144 Nationally, #23 WR, #20 in Florida

Four-star wideout Chance Robinson decided to commit to Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes on Friday. The Florida native chose Miami over a laundry list of suitors that included programs like Alabama, Penn State, Georgia, and Tennessee.

Once Robinson made up his mind, he wasted no time making his decision. “I wanted to do it now because I just wanted to lock in with a school and be a part of something special and I’m very excited to make my decision. It honestly means everything to me.” This is a big recruiting win for Cristobal and the company, as they are taking steps to keep Florida’s top prospects in the Sunshine State.

Gideon Davis, RB, Lynchburg, VA (Liberty Christian Academy), #38 Nationally, #3 RB, #2 in Virginia

On Friday, ballyhooed runningback Gideon Davis released his top ten schools in play for his recruitment. Those schools included Clemson, Michigan, Oregon, Ohio State, USC, Penn State, Colorado, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Iowa State.

The talented 2025 prospect has several visits lined up, including trips to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Penn State. He has good speed for a back, running a 10.69 100-meter dash as a sophomore in high school. It’s still early, but whoever gets his services will receive a phenomenal weapon on the offensive side of the ball.
