With school’s currently focusing on the Class of 2026, the Class of 2029 seems like light years away. However, that has not stopped a few recruits from getting a jump start by receiving a few early offers. One of these is quarterback Justin Merriman, son of former Maryland star linebacker Shawn Merriman, who already has four offers.

So incredibly blessed to have all of these offers as just an incoming freshman, work never stops!! GOD did@CoachCamp01 @shawnemerriman pic.twitter.com/fAUgcqE8tx

The Terps were smart enough to try to take early advantage of their relationship with the family by being one of the first offers, along with Boston College, Syracuse, UNLV and UConn. His most recent offer came from the Eagles, who made their decision after Merriman attended a camp on Sunday. He has been busy with camps and will continue to be, which includes a stop at Alabama this weekend.

Merriman, 6-foot-3 and 190-pounds, will be a freshman during the 2025 season at Depaul in Wayne, New Jersey. Considering his current size and the fact that he has yet to even step foot on a high school field, his potential is already soaring. If you weren’t familiar with the name Justin Merriman, you will be in the coming months and years.

As for his father, Shawn Merriman was an All-Conference selection in 2009 before being drafted in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. During his eight-season professional career with the Chargers and Buffalo Bills, he was the Defensive Rookie of the Year and two time All-Pro while totaling 258 tackles and 45.5 sacks.
