Keshawn Davila, the standout cornerback from Northwest Mississippi Community College, has quickly risen to the top of the JuCo recruiting ranks in the class of 2025. At 6'1" and 165 pounds, Davila is ranked as the No. 2 cornerback in the junior college class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. His ability to shut down receivers, read plays, and make game-changing interceptions has caught the attention of college programs across the nation.

Now, the Arizona State Sun Devils have positioned itself as a serious contender and are inside Davila’s top 7 alongside Florida, Arkansas, Michigan State, Iowa, Utah, and Virginia Tech.

Arizona State Makes a Strong Impression

While Davila is visiting Virginia Tech this weekend, he updated his Instagram profile picture to him wearing an Arizona State jersey, showing excitement after a visit to Tempe which has Arizona State fans buzzing. He visited Tempe from last weekend, from November 22nd to the 24th. It seems clear that the Sun Devils made a strong impression during Davila’s time in Arizona. The combination of ASU’s campus, coaching staff, and potential for immediate playing time likely played a key role in his consideration.

Arizona State is clearly making its push, and the momentum continues to build. The Sun Devils are now firmly part of Davila's top 7, showing that Tempe has quickly become a place of interest for one of the top cornerbacks in the country.

Arizona State’s Defensive Staff Stands Out

The Sun Devils’ defensive coaching staff has been instrumental in Arizona State's rise as a contender for Davila. Brian Ward, the team’s defensive coordinator, has played a huge role in the program's defensive growth.

Ward, a Glendale, Ariz. native, is known for his impressive track record, having led one of the Pac-12’s elite defenses in 2022 at Washington State. His defense was ranked third in the league and 33rd nationally in points allowed, with just 22.4 points per game—tied for the sixth-best total in program history. This defensive prowess under Ward could make Arizona State an attractive destination for a playmaker like Davila.

Adding to the allure of the Sun Devils is their cornerback coach, Bryan Carrington, who has quickly become one of the most dynamic recruiters in college football. Carrington’s ability to connect with recruits and his reputation as an up-and-coming coaching talent is another reason why Arizona State is in the mix for elite players like Davila.

With Carrington’s coaching acumen, Davila would have the opportunity to develop under a coach who knows how to get the best out of his players and has a knack for recruiting top-tier talent.

A Key Addition to ASU’s Defense

Keshawn Davila’s combination of size, speed, and football intelligence makes him a potential game-changer for any defense, and Arizona State is clearly focused on adding him to its roster. As the No. 2 cornerback in the Junior College class, Davila brings a level of talent that could immediately bolster the Sun Devils’ secondary and take their defense to new heights.

With the defensive line led by Brian Ward and the cornerbacks coached by Bryan Carrington, Davila could be part of a defensive unit that looks poised to compete at the highest levels of the Big 12. Arizona State’s coaching staff is giving him every reason to believe that Tempe is the place to unlock his full potential.

Davila was recently named the JuCo corner of the year by Noicey Sports, illustrating his talents.

What’s Next for Keshawn Davila?

While it’s still early in the process, Arizona State’s recent rise in Davila’s recruitment speaks volumes. As he considers offers from Florida, Arkansas, Michigan State, Iowa, Utah, Virginia Tech, and Arizona State, the Sun Devils’ recruiting efforts and strong coaching staff could prove to be the deciding factors in his decision.

For now, the top 7 remains fluid, but Arizona State’s inclusion in that group is no fluke. The Sun Devils are making a compelling case to Davila, and if they continue to build on the momentum of his visit to Tempe, they may be well-positioned to land one of the top cornerbacks in the class.
