Prospects in the News

–Austin Alexander, 2024 CB, Chicago Heights, Illinois (Marian Catholic), #526 nationally, #48 cornerback, and #13 in IL

Austin Alexander decommitted from the Wisconsin Badgers on Wednesday night. The three-star Chicago Heights (IL.) cornerback had been committed to the Badgers since October 31 before he backed off his pledge. He has received offers from the Iowa State Cyclones and USC Trojans in the last few days and plans to visit them both, along with the Illinois Fighting Illini. The Cyclones, Illini, and Trojans are the teams to keep an eye on.

After a Great Conversation with @PoteatCoach I am blessed to receive an offer from Iowa State University!!#Cyclones @LopezMchs @coolc815 @dabestscout2 @CoachFlemingMC @MCHS__FBALL pic.twitter.com/qpRrBUI4nV

–Kolaj Cobbins, 2024 LB, Destrehan, Louisiana (Destrehan HS), #237 nationally, #19 linebacker, and #5 in LA

Four-star Destrehan (LA.) linebacker Kolaj Cobbins has named his top six schools. Those schools are the Colorado Buffaloes, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, and Texas Longhorns. Cobbins is the No. 5 player in Louisiana and LSU is the favorite to land him. However, he was in Austin last weekend for the Longhorns Junior Day. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Tigers a 32% chance of landing him. The Rebels are next at 19%, followed by the Longhorns at 16%. LSU is the tram to beat right now.

–Ted Hammond, 2024 DL, Cincinnati, Ohio (St. Xavier HS), #357 nationally, #31 defensive lineman, and #13 in OH

Three-star Cincinnati (OH.) defensive lineman Ted Hammond committed to the Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday. He is the No. 13 player in Ohio and chose the Wolverines over offers from the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kentucky Wildcats, and Washington Huskies, among others. Hammond becomes the fifth commit in the Wolverines 2024 class, currently ranked ninth.

Blessed to announce my commitment to the University of Michigan! Go Blue!! @CoachMikeElston @coachclink @CoachJim4UM @Coach_Minter @CoachD_Roney @UMichFootball pic.twitter.com/fRMf8XJRgs

–Micah Hudson, 2024 WR, Temple, Texas (Lake Belton HS), #6 nationally, #2 wide receiver, and #2 in TX

Micah Hudson, a five-star wide receiver from Temple (TX.) and the number-two player in the Lone Star State, was in Austin last weekend to visit the Texas Longhorns. He has not yet named his list of top schools. However, Hudson did say that when he releases his list of top three schools, the Longhorns would be on there. Regarding the Longhorns, he said, “What keeps me interested in them is it’s just Texas football. Texas football is always gonna be known for having great athletes, good football players, and things like that. It’s the culture, and that’s pretty much what it is. They(‘ve) got a good coaching staff, and they may have lost a few people and things like that, but I do like the staff there.” The On3 RPM gives them a 25% chance of landing him, which currently trails the Texas A&M Aggies, who lead with a 28% chance. The Aggies are the team to beat right now.

–Damani Maxson, 2024 S, Houston, Texas (Clear Lake HS), #309 nationally, #25 safety, and #47 in TX

Four-star Houston (TX.) safety Damani Maxson has his eyes set on a few programs. Those schools are the Florida State Seminoles, Houston Cougars, Kansas Jayhawks, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Tennessee Volunteers. Maxson is the No. 47 player in Texas, and the Cougars and the leaders to land him right now. The On3 RPM gives them a 42% chance of doing so. However, the Cowboys could be the team to watch. Regarding them, he said, “Oklahoma State has always been one of my top schools since I was young,” I like the energy out there and the environment in Stillwater. I know I need to go back to there, and things could work out there.” So keep an eye on Oklahoma State.
