There is continued curiosity regarding North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick’s recruiting strategy with the Tar Heels. Who he decides to offer, both through the portal and in high school, is usually dissected. So, plenty of people took notice when North Carolina recently became the first P4 offer for a Class of 2028 ATH whose father had a very successful NFL career.

It is no mystery that LeGarrette Blount Jr. is the son of LeGarrette Blount, whose nine-year NFL career saw him rush for 6,306 yards and 56 touchdowns, while winning three Super Bowls. This included three seasons with the New England Patriots, where under the leadership of Coach Belichick he enjoyed his most productive season in 2016 with 1,161 yards and an NFL leading 18 rushing touchdowns.
Blount was a big, powerful back with a frame (6-foot-0, 245-pounds) that left an impact during a game. Currently a freshman, Blount Jr., who plays his high school football at Hamilton in Chandler, Arizona, currently has a much different build at 5-foot-11 and only 160-pounds. He also currently plays wide receiver and defensive back. Could a move to running back happen down the road after he physically matures? There is plenty of time for that to happen, but however this ends, the dad is already very proud of his son.
LFG LB!!!!! A dawg if I ever seen one!!! Such a humble and respectful kid that does nothing but WORK!! I’m so proud of you and happy for you son! You deserve everything coming your way and more king! I love you so so much my guy!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! https://t.co/y2PPjjLMIy

Blount Jr., who already held an offer from Marshall, already had the advantage of having a successful NFL player as a father, but with Coach Belichick offering, even more eyes will be on him during the remainder of 2025 and beyond.
