Prospects in the News

Three-star cornerback Leonard Moore from Round Rock, Texas announced that he will be committing to Notre Dame. Moore is 6’2 177 pounds and has an amazing length for a corner. Moore was just recently offered a couple of weeks ago and visited on January 28th. He is an extremely underrated player and has allowed only three catches on 282 pass coverage snaps during his junior year. Although Leonard Moore is only a three-star he is someone I expect to rise in the rankings very soon.

Top 250 athlete Ju’Juan Johnson announced he will be committing to Coach Prime and the University of Colorado. He chose the Buffs over Florida and LSU. He attends Lafayette Christian Academy in Louisiana. He is ranked No. 225 and a top-five player in Louisiana. Although Colorado secured his commitment don’t think the in-state Tigers won’t stop pushing for his commitment down the road.

Four-Star offensive tackle Jac’Qawn McRoy drops his top ten schools. Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Tennessee have made the cut. McRoy is a 6’8 OT that attends Clay-Chalkville in Pinson, Alabama. The same school as 2024 Alabama commit Jaylen Mbakwe. 247 sports has McRoy as a top 150 player and the number five tackle in the country. We will see if the in-state Auburn Tigers can land his commitment or if he ends up going elsewhere.

2025 linebacker Mantrez Walker has cut his list down to four schools and will commit to a school on February 11th. Michigan, LSU, Penn State, and Florida all made his list. Walker is currently unranked on 247 but is a recruit that should get a good bump in the rankings once they start evaluating 2025s more. Fresh off of a visit to Michigan on January 21st, the Wolverines will look to secure the early commitment from Walker.

Four-star twins Jacob Smith and Jerod Smith along with four-star quarterback Dante Reno have announced that they will transfer from Loomis Chaffe to Chesire Academy in Connecticut. The transfer will allow all three guys to graduate early, which is not permitted under Loomis’ academic policy. Dante Reno, a South Carolina commit, had 3,900 passing yards and 39 touchdowns in 2 years as the starter. Smith twins are uncommitted but have schools like Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, and others chasing their commitment.
