Names in the News

–3-star DL Grant Buckey, Liberty High School, Bakersfield, California.

Grant Buckey is the No. 551 overall, No. 62 defensive lineman, and No. 39 player in California, and he announced on Thursday that he had flipped his commitment from the USC Trojans to the UCLA Bruins. In June, he committed to the Trojans over the Bruins and California Golden Bears. Buckey is the 11th commit to a Bruins class ranked No. 59 overall and drops the Trojans to No. 14 overall.

–4-star 2024 RB Anthony Carrie, Carrollwood Day High School, Tampa, Florida.

Anthony Carrie is the No. 144 overall, No. 12 running back, and No. 23 player in Florida in the 2024 class, and he has narrowed his list to 12 schools. They are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Penn State Nittany Lions, and South Carolina Gamecocks. He said,

The reason I chose these schools in my Top 12 is that these are the schools that are actively recruiting me.”

The schools to watch currently are the Gamecocks, Rebels, and Wolverines, as he said they had done the best job recruiting him.

–4-star EDGE Hunter Clegg, American Fork High School, American Fork, Utah.

Hunter Clegg is the No. 202 overall, No. 20 edge, and No. 3 player in Utah and is committed to the Stanford Cardinal, but he will visit the UCLA Bruins this weekend. Clegg committed to the Cardinal in July but has made other visits this season. However, now that David Shaw has stepped down at Stanford, he will head out to Los Angeles.

–4-star ATH Malachi Coleman, Lincoln East High School, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Malachi Coleman is the No. 82 overall, No. 5 athlete, and No. 1 player in Nebraska, and he decommitted from the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Thursday morning. Coleman committed to the Huskers in October over the Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, and USC Trojans. Nebraska remains a possibility as well and he will definitely have options due to him being a top-100 recruit. Michigan and Georgia are the schools to watch, in my opinion. He could visit both in the near future. Right now, my pick for him would be to either re-commit to the new Nebraska staff, or to end up at Georgia. I think the Dawgs are a quiet frontrunner currently.

–4 star 2024 EDGE Sterling Dixon, Mobile Christian High School, Mobile, Alabama.

Sterling Dixon is the No. 211, No. 16 edge, and No. 13 player in Alabama in the 2024 class, and he committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Thursday afternoon. Dixon chose the Tide over the Auburn Tigers and LSU Tigers. Early on, it was Auburn who was the team to beat. However, they took the lead after the Tide offered him during the summer. Dixon now adds to an Alabama 2024 class that is No. 4 overall. They also have the number one class for 2023 right now.

–4-star CB Caleb Presley, Rainier Beach High School, Seattle, Washington.

Caleb Presley is committed to the Oregon Ducks, but he will be in Seattle this weekend to visit the Washington Huskies. He is the No. 138 overall, No. 16 cornerback, and No. 1 player in Washington. Presley has been committed to the Ducks since July, but this will be his second time visiting the Huskies this fall. He was there in September when they hosted the Michigan State Spartans. The Ducks are still the favorites, but the Huskies will make this enjoyable.
