The 2023 rendition of the Elite 11 finals is set to kick off on Wednesday. Elite 11 is an annual competition where the top High School Quarterbacks compete to be named the Elite 11 MVP and arguably the best high school Quarterback in their recruiting cycle. Elite 11 held its inaugural competition in 1999, with 15 of the nation’s top signal callers from across the country. After several grueling on-field drills, Brock Berlin took home the MVP over Quarterbacks like Matt Cassell and Jeff Smoker. The 24 Elite 11 competition will host 20 signal callers from twelve different states. With the competition set to begin in Los Angeles, let’s meet the top High School signal callers gunning for the MVP.

1. Elijah Brown (Mater Dei, CA) (Uncommitted)

2024 QB Elijah Brown, Mater Dei HS, CA

Elijah Brown is the first signal caller. Elijah is from Santa Ana, CA, and attends the QB factory Mater Dei. Mater Dei has produced QBs like Matt Leinhart, Matt Barkley, JT Daniels, and Bryce Young. Brown is the next-best passer from Mater Dei, as since becoming a starter, he has lost one game in three years. Brown ranks as the 33rd-best prospect in the nation and 3rd at the QB position. Elijah is one of two uncommitted QBs in the Elite 11 finals. Despite being uncommitted, his recruitment is ramping up, with predictions from every recruiting site listing him as the next Stanford QB commit. The 6-1 QB has no timeline on his commitment yet and seems to be in no rush to do so. Listed below is the MFS evaluation of this Elite 11 finalist.

“Elijah displays quick feet and excellent poise in the pocket. He has the courage to deliver throws into tight windows anywhere on the field.” Can Elijah become the next Elite 11 MVP?

CJ Carr’s grandfather Lloyd Carr coached the Michigan Wolverines from 1995 through 2007, winning five BIG 10 titles. Lloyd will watch his grandson CJ compete against the nation’s top High School Quarterbacks in the finals. The 6-2 signal-caller plays at Saline High School in Michigan, leaving many to believe he would choose the Wolverines. Carr shocked Michigan fans and committed to Notre Dame in June of 2022. As a recruit, he ranks 37th in the nation and 5th at the QB position. Listed below is the MFS Staff evaluation of this Elite 11 finalist.

“CJ Carr is a student of the game. He progresses through reads quickly and uses his knowledge of football to carve through opposing defenses. The accuracy Carr displays allows him to hit receivers across the field.” Can Carr become the next Elite 11 MVP?

3. Jadyn Davis (Providence Day, NC) (Michigan Commit)

Jadyn Davis holds 32 Power 5 offers to add to his impressive High School career. The 6-0.5 signal-caller ranks 27th in the nation and 2nd at the QB position. In his junior season, Jadyn tossed 43 touchdowns and over four thousand yards leading Providence Day to a 12-1 record. Michigan recruited Davis strenuously and landed his commitment in March. He is one of the most prolific QBs in the 2024 class and one of the favorites during the finals. Listed below is the MFS Staff evaluation of this Elite 11 finalist.

“Elite mental processing and accuracy make him one of the best QBs in recent years. He displays very good poise, willing to take hits and not pressured by oncoming defenders.” Can Davis become the next Elite 11 MVP?

4. Ethan Grunkemeyer (Olentangy, OH) (Penn State Commit)

Ethan Grunkemeyer is one of the late-rising QBs in the 2024 class, yet he is making a name for himself after being selected as a finalist. Ethan ranks as a three-star and 33rd at the QB position. He is also ranked 756th in the nation showing himself as an underrated QB. Over the course of his recruitment, Ethan hauled in 25 offers and chose the Nittany Lions as his choice school in May. Grunkemeyer plays at Olentangy High School in Ohio, where as a junior, he tossed 25 touchdowns and over 2,500 yards. Listed below is Allen Trieu’s of 247 Sports evaluation of Grunkemeyer.

“Very productive high school player who has posted good numbers completed a good percentage of his passes and taken care of the ball.” Can Ethan become the next Elite 11 MVP?

For the second time in three Sundays, Penn State QB commit Ethan Grunkemeyer is throwing the football in Happy Valley.

This time he’s under the direction of Lions OC Mike Yurcich.

5. Will Hammond (Hutto, TX) (Texas Tech Commit)

The Hutto Hippos gunslinger is the next finalist. Will Hammond ranks 27th as a QB and 454th in the nation. Like Grunkemeyer, Hammond was also a late riser and quickly shot up boards after his commitment to the Red Raiders. During his recruitment, the 6-2 signal caller garnered 11 offers from colleges across the country but choose to stay home with Texas Tech. Hammond is a dark horse during this competition and can turn some eyes and potentially pull off a sneaky MVP win. Listed below is the MFS Staff evaluation of this Elite 11 finalist.

“He is comfortable throwing 50/50 balls and balls into deep coverage as he trusts his receivers. He does a decent job of avoiding pressure and seems aware of how to move around the pocket.” Can Hammond bring the MVP back to Hutto?
