Mike Farrell’s 2023 Class Rankings: Big XII

Mike Farrell ranks the best classes in the Big XII, led by Arch Manning and Texas

After going through the top classes in the SEC, the Big Ten, and the ACC, it’s time to break down the Big XII.

1. Texas

— Arch Manning is the headliner but even with his overranked status this is a great class from the receivers to the tackles like LB Anthony Hill.

2. Oklahoma

— A solid class led by QB Jackson Arnold but it’s the defense that gets me excited for them.

Denton-Guyer quarterback Jackson Arnold (11) won the Elite 11 quarterback camp in Redondo Beach, California. Arnold is an Oklahoma commit.

3. TCU

— One of the better classes I’ve seen from TCU, there aren’t a ton of stars but there are also no reaches.

4. Texas Tech

— Joey McGuire is a Texas high school legend and very connected so it’s no surprise this class is local and very good by Texas Tech standards.

5. West Virginia

— Neal Brown may be on the hot seat but this is one of the better West Virginia classes he’s brought in. They did a great job in Pennsylvania and are starting to become a factor in Ohio again.

6. Baylor

— A disappointing season leads to a disappointing class in my eyes and the loss of QB Austin Novosad is crushing.

7. Kansas State

— It’s a huge class and QB Avery Johnson is solid but it’s also loaded with a ton of possible reaches.

Maize junior quarterback Avery Johnson (2) loads up for a pass in the regular season finale against the Hutchinson Salthawks on October 25, 2021. Johnson and the Eagles look to make a deep run in the Class 5A playoffs.

8. Iowa State

— QB JJ Kohl is a good one but this is a typical Iowa State class with a heavy reliance on in state players.

9. Oklahoma State

— Mike Gundy has fallen far. From a great start to the season to an awful finish, this is one of the worst classes on paper I’ve seen him bring in.

10. Kansas

— It’s a small class with no real headliner so it has to be last.
