Ohio State Commit Four-Star LB Garrett Stover Talks Commitment, Recruiting Targets, and More!
Since November 21st, 2022, the Buckeyes have held a commitment from 2024 four-star LB Garrett Stover (Big Walnut, OH). Stover was one of the first commits to the Buckeyes 2024 Class and will be one to keep an eye on as a future Buckeye.
Stover is locked in and simply isn't going anywhere, "No other schools have reached out. They know I gave Ohio State my word." He picked the Buckeyes over Notre Dame and Cincinnati in November. The Buckeyes made him feel at home. "How welcome they make me feel. I've built such a strong relationship with the staff, they can provide so many opportunities for me, and it's close to home." Stover is also the cousin of the current Buckeye tight end, Cade Stover.
Stover described his decision to commit to Ohio State as well. "I always knew that Ohio State was where I wanted to be. They are one of the best programs right now and in my backyard. Staying close to home is important to me, but every time I go down to Ohio State, I fall in love with the place even more. That place is filled with great people, and they have something special going on there, and I can't wait to be a part of it. I wanted to make the decision after my junior season, I felt I was ready right when they offered, but I wanted to take more time with it." Stover ended up being a massive get for Coach Knowles and will get to work with Buckeye legend James Laurinaitis.

Speaking of coaches, the main message they are giving recruits is a brotherhood. "Just that Ohio State truly is a brotherhood that is truly special." Stover also loves the idea of adding more Ohio talent to the board. Stover said this about Ohio State, "Ohio State already does an amazing job selling itself, and everyone I feel like knows that, but the brotherhood there is what makes it special."
Speaking of recruiting recruits, Garrett has his recruiting cap on as well, "Right now, everyone I've talked to knows what Ohio State is all about. I'm trying to get some other Ohio guys on the board, like Bryce West, Aaron Scott, and Jordan Marshall. I'm still developing relationships with a lot of other guys. We have an opportunity to build a great class." Stover is simply doing his best to keep the instate priorities home.
With his senior season coming up, Stover has one goal on his mind. "My goal this year is to win Mr. Football." Last season, Mr. Football went to Buckeye target 2024 four-star RB Jordan Marshall. Stover hopes to make that award his own this year and has the skill set to get that done this fall.
