Who is Dante Moore?

Dante Moore is a 6’3 205 lb Five-Star QB from Detroit, MI. Moore led Marin Luther King High school to the 2021 MHSAA Division 3 State Championship. Dante has been a highly coveted prospect in the 2023 cycle garnering dozens of offers and was considered a Michigan lean for some time. Recently Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks came in and gained his pledge.

Film Evaluation

Dante is a smooth customer; the young signal-caller started for King High as a freshman. He has a calm demeanor and a knack for making good decisions, particularly in crunch time. Experience and poise are the most likable attributes he has. Do not mistake that for lack of talent; however, Dante has an outstanding arm and is exactly what you look for in terms of body type and physical talent. Dante showed out at the Elite 11, turning plenty of heads. He should not be mistaken for a running QB, but he is mobile enough to pick up yards scrambling and has the body to take the hits. Moore is a leader of men, which will give him a chance to be a strong player at the collegiate level.

Playing Time Early?

The Ducks do not have a clear answer at QB, and Bo Nix is the current stop-gap in Eugene. Moore has a great chance to play right away as a freshman or redshirt freshman. Moore’s talent, leadership quality, and experience will help him have the maturity and mindset to step in immediately to be an impact player.

What this means for Oregon.

Dan Lanning may have a higher ceiling than Mario Cristobal, which has much to do with recruiting. Anytime you lose a coach of that quality, and the next guy in line is young and unproven, it’s always a great sign to see immediate success in the recruiting game. This helps you know that it is being taken seriously, and recruits and their parents believe in what Lanning is doing. So do the high school coaches around the country. Lanning is snagging a Michigan kid from Harbough’s backyard. This is a challenging thing to do. It’s one thing to get strong players from your region, or even the region you have ties to. It’s another to go into someone else’s stronghold and wrestle away a gem.
