College football recruiting is still on fire as the nation’s top recruits keep making moves. Let’s check in with some of the biggest stories from the past few days.
1. Perry Thompson to The Plains
After landing five-star Demarcus Riddick a few days ago, Auburn has shown no signs of cooling off. The Five-star Wide Receiver from Foley, Alabama sent shockwaves around the college football world on the 29th when he flipped his commitment from Alabama to in-state rival Auburn and coach Hugh Freeze. Thompson was in Auburn for Big Cat Weekend for the flip and has taken over five visits to The Plains since his commitment to Alabama in June of 2022.
Freeze and Auburn came late to the party for Thompson, only offering him in January 2023, but the Tigers made a big impression on the star prospect. As a recruit, Thompson ranks fourteenth in the nation and fourth in the WR position. His recruitment is far from over, but Perry seems locked in with the Tigers, leaving Alabama fans at a loss for words.
“Honestly just the family feeling and the legacy I can leave behind. Yeah, I could go to Bama but why not be that change in a program’s history.”

2. Lester to Tallahassee
The third five-star who committed in this article is Charles Lester. He was deciding between Alabama, Colorado, and Florida State. In the end, Lester chose the Seminoles and Coach Mike Norvell.
As a recruit, Lester ranks nineteenth in the nation and second at the Cornerback position, only behind Georgia commit Ellis Robinson. The Venice, Florida CB is a top prospect in his class, and many scouts see him in the NFL in a few years. Coach Norvell and the Seminoles landed a huge in-state prospect and continued their recruiting success in 2024.

3. Nathaniel Frazier to Announce His Commitment
Five-star Runningback Nathaniel Frazier announced his commitment date as August 6th. The prolific athlete ranks as the fourth best RB in the 2024 class and fifty-first overall in the nation. Frazier hails from Santa Ana, California, and attends national powerhouse Mater Dei. He is also a teammate of 2025 back Jordon Davison.
Frazier will be choosing between Oregon, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Georgia. He currently holds predictions towards Georgia, but the Tide are on the heels of the Bulldogs. We’ll see who Frazier chooses when he commits next week.

4. Wardell Mack to LSU?
This man has had a busy July. Early this month, Mack seemed all Texas. But last week, Chris Nee of Noles247 lodged a prediction for the Tigers giving LSU fans hope. Mack ranks 115th in the nation and thirteenth at the CB position.
Wardell is one of the top undecided cornerbacks in the nation. The four-star attends John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana. He has yet to announce a commitment date, and with Texas currently leading, do the Tigers have a chance to steal one from the Longhorns?

5. Atkins to College Station?
Xavier Atkins ranks 243rd in the nation and twenty-third as an LB. The four-star hails from Humble, Texas, and attends Summer Creek High School. Atkins committed to LSU on July 5th, but his recruitment is still open. He was in College Station on the 29th visiting the Aggies, which led to three predictions to be entered for his flip to Texas A&M.
Many believed Atkins would flip during his visit, but he is still committed to the Tigers as of publishing. When all is said and done, I believe Atkins will wind up as part of the Aggies 2024 class.
Xavier Atkins has been Crystal Balled to flip to A&M by Steve Wiltfong and others. An On3 insider also predicted a flip for Atkins (I retweeted it a few minutes ago).
I'd guess a decision is imminent, as I believe Atkins will be in CStat today, if he isn't already. pic.twitter.com/GVcQkxmm0Y
