As the anticipation for the football season grows, some of the nation's top recruits are gearing up to announce their college commitments. Teams and coaches are on the trail giving their final pitches to recruits before shifting most of their focus to prepping for the upcoming season. Here's a breakdown of the top remaining players in the Southeast and their potential destinations.

David Stone

Defensive Lineman

Bradenton, FL (IMG Academy)

David Stone is poised to announce his decision on August 26th. Oklahoma, Michigan State, Miami, and Texas A&M are all confident about their chances of securing the commitment of the 5-star defensive lineman.

The Sooners have held the upper hand in Stone’s recruitment thanks to multiple visits to Norman. Miami is a strong contender, as Stone has mentioned it as his family’s favorite destination. Michigan State and Texas A&M are also not to be overlooked.

Kamarion Franklin

Defensive Lineman

Lake Cormorant, MS (Lake Cormorant)

Big Kam Franklin’s recruitment is one that has seen a couple of different leaders throughout his recruiting process. It was thought for a while that Tennessee was a heavy favorite to land the defensive lineman out of Mississippi.

However, as the summer went along, things became a little less clear about who was actually leading the race for Franklin. We saw Miami and Ole Miss gain momentum with some big visits in July. However, Auburn has emerged as the team with the most buzz around it leading up to his decision. Hugh Freeze and The Tigers are coming off a huge recruiting month in July and look to carry some of that momentum into August. Franklin will be making his decision this Saturday, August 19th.

Ryan Wingo

Wide Receiver

Saint Louis, MO (St. Louis University)

Although it was expected that Ryan Wingo would wait until early signing day in December to make his decision, he has suggested that he could potentially move up his decision. Like Franklin, Wingo’s recruitment has seen various frontrunners. Initially, attention surrounded the Vols, then shifted to the Georgia Bulldogs.

As the summer progressed, Texas was seen as the favorite. Recently, the Missouri Tigers have generated significant buzz. Missouri’s NIL laws, which allow players in their senior year to receive money from their NIL deals as early as September 1st, offer the team an advantage in recruiting in-state players, which could influence Wingo’s decision.

Eddrick Houston

Defensive Lineman

Buford, GA (Buford)

Eddrick Houston is another high-profile recruit nearing a decision. His final five teams include USC, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, and Clemson. Ohio State has been the trendy pick, while USC has posed strong competition.

Houston has privately made his decision already, with his family being the only ones in the know. The world will have to wait until August 22nd to learn where this 5-star talent will continue his playing career.

Jordan Seaton

Offensive Lineman

Washington, DC (IMG Academy)

Jordan Seaton has taken the slow approach to deciding which school he will play for in college. The 6-foot-5 offensive lineman has taken only one official visit, which belonged to Alabama. However, Seaton has already locked in 6 official visits for the fall, including the likes of Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio St, Florida, Oregon, and South Carolina.

Seaton is also expected to make a trip back to Tuscaloosa at some point. While there’s no clear leader here, there have been rumblings that South Carolina may hold an edge heading into the fall. Alabama, Florida, and Oregon are 3 teams to keep an eye on as well.

Zaquan Patterson

Linebacker

Hollywood, FL (Chaminade-Madonna Prep)

The Swiss army knife out of Hollywood, Florida, has been hinting that a decision may be on the horizon. While Miami has been a long-standing favorite, the competition for Patterson has intensified as of late.

Michigan is a team that has made a huge push as they look to make things interesting. Two teams to watch in this one are Auburn and Florida State. Both the Tigers and the Seminoles are coming off huge recruiting months and are looking to add to their built-up momentum.
