It took longer than some expected, but last week Class of 2027 four-star cornerback Jarrell Chandler finally pulled in the offer he had been waiting for. Playing his high school football at Knoxville Halls, he received an offer from the Vols while on campus for a visit.

The Tennessee offer was Chandler’s fifth from the SEC, joining Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Missouri. On top of that, he also picked up early offers from Louisville, SMU, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, Tulane, Liberty and Western Kentucky.
The city of Knoxville has produced a steady stream of college-level players, with a majority of them coming from Knoxville Catholic. However, Halls High School is not generally known as a football power, with Chandler likely being the school’s first FBS recruit since kicker Ian O’Connor signed with Marshall back in 2003.
Chandler, 6-foot-2 and 197-pounds, totaled 55 tackles, one tackle for a loss, seven pass deflections and one interception during his 2024 season at Halls.
