There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Kentucky program nowadays, so any bit of positive news is especially important. Last night, the Wildcats were able to celebrate as they received a commitment from an explosive Class of 2027 quarterback.

DJ Hunter becomes the first Class of 2027 commitment for the Wildcats. He plays his football at Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tennessee after transferring in from Horn Lake in Mississippi prior to his sophomore season. In his one season with Bearden, Hunter passed for 1,431 yards and nine touchdowns in only eight games last fall. He also rushed for three touchdowns.
Prior to his commitment, Hunter, who is 6-foot-2 and 195-pounds, had recently taken visits to Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. He also held offers from Virginia Tech, Middle Tennessee, Marshall, Eastern Kentucky and East Tennessee State.
Kentucky offered Hunter on January 30th and quickly made him a priority. His recent visit to Lexington, along with the relationships he had developed with the coaching staff both led to his commitment.
